YOUR FIRST EVER ARSENAL GAME

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Mine was November 1968.. the 9th in fact. I got taken to the Lord Mayor's show in the morning, then down Hoxton market... Pie Mash lunch & I was bought an Arsenal rosette & then taken to Arsenal by my cousin... I did not realise where I was going until I got there. !!! I was a bit of a dumb sod then ...We stood at the front of the Clock End ...cos the North Bank was too rough. the programme cost 1 shilling...5 new pence to u ankle biters. can't remember how much it cost to get in...but maybe a season later , it was 20P to get in the school boy enclosure & then u got through a door to the North Bank... Anyway back to my first game...The game itself was against Newcastle & was an exciting nil nil draw
What I do remember was the Metropolian Police band, the half time score boards, how big our keeper was (I thought it was Jim Furnell...but the records tell me it was Bob Wilson) & my cousin getting his scarf nicked.

I took my boy to his first game when he was about 5 on boxing day 1995 & we beat QPR 3-0...he was scared by the crowds & noise & was telling me to be quiet.. :D

Leicester 2 Arsenal 0 1976.
As a teenager with my Arsenal SILK scarf on in the main stand wondering why I was getting dirty looks. Probably a good job we lost. Good following in the corner with an Arsenal Union Jack pinned to the back of the stand. We were dire in those days (but after what Nasri is planning to do, I'd have John Matthews, Trevor Ross etc back anytime!!)

A 3-1 home defeat to a team that doesn't exist any more. Was a league game, too. Anyone care to hazard a guess?

I've never been but I have bought every home shirt since Arsenals started playing in 1996.

I sometimes watch them on the telly but only if there is nothing else on.

Feb 12 1988, Arsenal v utd FA cup, Arsenal 2-1 up and Brian Mc Clair missed last minute penalty, prompting scenes not unlike those after Van horseface pen miss.
