i don't care much about the copa america tbh. it's like the scottish league: there are only two teams who can win it. and that's it.
however, uruguay has probably their best team for the last few decades, and brazil and argentina are not close to what they once was, so maybe our neighbours down south can get some results.
and i'd be glad to be honest. i don't support the seleção and i'm a big fan of uruguay, could even say i'm more proud of being a bit uruguayan than about being brazilian.
a LOT more.

I tipped Uruguay to win it earlier on in the thread, genuinely think they could take it this time. Having said that I must admit that I also dont care much about it, dont care about the euros either, always seems a bit like the league cup to me! Wish they'd just scrap them both and the african cup of nations and just have a world cup every 2 years instead!brazilianGOONER wrote:i don't care much about the copa america tbh. it's like the scottish league: there are only two teams who can win it. and that's it.

about uruguay, don't be fooled though: while an attack made of forlan, cavani and suarez is indeed mouth watering, their defence is a bit shite.
Oh aye, if the defence dont turn up they'll lose it, but i was generally impressed with their defenders and their organisation at the world cup- got taken apart by the dutch and the germans a bit i suppose, but prior to the semis they only conceded 2 goals, and i think they will be good enough to stifle brazil and argentina tbhbrazilianGOONER wrote:

yep, they lack quality on their defenders but they make up for that with a lot of organization and hard work.safcftm wrote:Oh aye, if the defence dont turn up they'll lose it, but i was generally impressed with their defenders and their organisation at the world cup- got taken apart by the dutch and the germans a bit i suppose, but prior to the semis they only conceded 2 goals, and i think they will be good enough to stifle brazil and argentina tbhbrazilianGOONER wrote:

oh if the arsenal did just the same

Yes mate Aguero is superb. Would love him here but no chance.augie wrote:1989 wrote:Argies off to a disappointing start. Game finished 1 - 1, Bolivia looked set to cause an upset till Aguero came on to rescue the day with a world class equalising goal.
Tonight's game: Colombia v Costa Rica (7:30 UK time).
Hard to believe that athletico madrid are rumoured to be lining up rossi from villareal as a replacement for aguero - I know rossi is a great striker but figure being mention is 35m while aguero's fee's is being quoted at 32m and as good as rossi is he still aint in aguero's class
FT Colombia 1 - 0 Costa Rica

Watchin COL vs ARG right now. I bet you wankers are all asleep over there.
Good game so far (22 minutes). Argentine players look strong. Lavezzi looks like he's built in the Tevez mould?
Watching Messi is a gift. He is one of the best footballers ever. They've deployed him very deep, basically as an attacking midfielder / classic #10. Will have to see if it pays off...

Great game indeed despite the scoreline. Was impressed by Colombia and particularly with that Ramos lad, looked very quick and strong. Argies were disappointing again. Messi is a genius but he can't do it all on his own, his team mates are just on the same wavelength. I can't understand why Batista plays Lavezzi when he has Aguero, Higuain, di Maria and Milito on the bench.Barriecuda wrote:Watchin COL vs ARG right now. I bet you wankers are all asleep over there.

The penalty situation was very interesting, I thought the ref would give it as the guy was brought down before the shot had been taken, not quite sure what the rules are. Still doesn't excuse the shocking miss by that Moreno bloke.
Tonight's game (Chile v Uruguay) should be a good one.
Chile 1 - 1 Uruguay.
I take it none of you *word censored* watched the game.
Very entertaining, physical affair. So many fouls, dives, dirty tackles and bookings, it's a miracle no one was sent off.
Great goal from Sanchez but apart from that did very little to justify the hype. Fucking Suarez is quality btw, can't believe he ended up at the mousers, he's too good for them!
