Even if a new boss comes in and gets the same money as Wenger, it is as much how Wenger has spent his budget that worries rather than the size of that budget.
But do we know know how much that actual budget is as Mr. Gazidis has repeatedly avoided discussing any of this with any certainty, and do we know that the wage structure was not in fact deliberately re-designed to undermine such spending>

The fact is the lack of smoking gun is not proof of innocence or justification to ignore that possibility. The fact the Board says something does not validate it on its own just as the fact that I may present very compelling evidence does not prove they have done what i suspect they have.

The point is this - there is far more actuall evidence we all have read or seen or can read or can see that justifies raising the questions I am, then there is invalidating those questions and we are failing Arsenal Football Club by refusing to ask them and ask them of the people we should be asking them. Because we are not myself included (though obviously I am closer to that than some) 100% certain of their complicity we cannot have100% certainty of their lack of complicity based on what we in fact do knw.

The stakes are utterly massive and so long we continue to behave like know-nothings ignoring the very possibility that some of the actual information we do know suggests, rather than to simply express our real concerns about all of this - our club will be win-nothings and we will be as much to blame for allowing this to happen and not caring enough to stand up for Arsenal as if my fears are proven justified the Board itself.

Ooops, yeah.

But if we didn't pay the rubbish so much we could pay our best players more.
And we need to ask whose policy that is and how it best serves Arsenal Football Club and if it does not serve the club why the club persists with it.

So long as we give the millionaires and now billionaires the free pass anmd accept whatever they say quietly and onlymarch at matches they can do whatever they want and get away with it if what the facts suggest they are doing in fact is the case.

The pay structure of the club has been in place since the '70's. It's the reason why Brady, Stapleton, Keown all left. It's not since 2005. How many times did GG refer to adhering to the pay structure? The Arsenal have never been the top payers, its the manner in which the players have been treated, which by the way, has been way too cosy in the last 6 years.
Anyway, I thought this was the pointless transfer thread???? AA23 to galatasary for £13m, RVP might put in a transfer request, and still no one wants denilson, nb52, diaby, rosicky, almunia. It's now july 3rd.

Just spotted this, Chavski linked with Walcott, although tbf, I really couldn't give a shit about him...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... lcott.html

Chelsea move for Walcott as winger ready to follow Fabregas, Clichy and Nasri through exit door

Chelsea are about to add further misery to Arsenal's summer by launching a bid for Theo Walcott. With the unsettled Samir Nasri heading to Manchester City along with Gael Clichy, and Cesc Fabregas looking certain to join Barcelona, the loss of a fourth key player would be a body blow at the Emirates.

But the bad news has not stopped manager Arsene Wenger committing his future to the club, as he insisted he was trying hard to bring in new players.

The Frenchman, who came in for criticism last week as the prospect of losing midfielders Fabregas and Nasri and defender Clichy grew more likely, urged Gunners fans to be patient over the club's transfer strategy.

'I'm very happy at Arsenal,' said Wenger. 'One sign of intelligence in life is to not always to want what you don't have. Appreciate what you have.

'Everyone is on standby at the moment, keeping their cards close to their chests, and waiting for someone to make the first move. Everyone wants to make that great signing and I'm focused on those objectives and am very busy on the telephone.'

Some of those calls may need to be made to Walcott over the coming days. The winger, who has an uneasy relationship with Wenger mainly because he feels he has not been given the first-team opportunities the new year and paid the price in the final sprint. We also had players like Fabregas and Robin van Persie out injured for a long time.

'I enjoy conditions every coach dreams of. I'll be eternally grateful to my club because I work with a philosophy and freedom that I like.'

Wenger has been linked to Paris St-Germain, who have been bought by Qatari Sports Investment, and has made no secret of his desire to return one day to his home town of Strasbourg and help the ailing club.

'I'd like to help but it's not possible to do it now, not with my job at Arsenal,' he told Alsace 20 TV station. When asked if he would be prepared to put up €15m to save Strasbourg from bankruptcy, Wenger paused and said: 'No.'

He added: 'I have contacts with the shareholders at Paris because I work with them outside of football. But I have always respected my contracts in content and length, and here I have three years left and I firmly intend to see them out.'

Wenger, who seems certain to take Bolton defender Gary Cahill to the club, again hit out at the big spenders who buy beyond their means.

'We work like everyone should, with a balance between revenue and expenditure,' he said. 'When this is not the case, it puts a club in danger. We try to combine three factors: a style of play, sensible management and human qualities.

So it's hard to understand why we are criticised. Because we did not win? Yes, that's true, there were stronger teams than us. But we have not been out of the top four for 15 years and, for me, the true value of a team is consistency.'

Wenger added that a desire to compete on all fronts last season is what cost Arsenal a trophy.

He said: 'We came close to winning the title but we may have been too greedy because we tried to win everything and, in the end, we were a bit short physically. We played 27 games over three months around the new year and paid the price in the final sprint. We also had players like Fabregas and Robin van Persie out injured for a long time.

More stuff here....

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foot ... 05957.html

Clichy takes off as Emirates departure lounge fills

Gaël Clichy looks certain to join Manchester City tomorrow, in a move that could see the left-back become the first of several star players to leave Arsenal this summer. The Ivory Coast striker Gervinho will, however, arrive on the same day, from Lille.

Clichy's representatives were busy completing the formalities of a £7 million deal over the weekend, with the Frenchman agreeing a four-year deal at City after refusing to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium. His move to one of Arsenal's biggest Premier League rivals represents a damaging development for the club and things could be about to get a lot worse, as several other players look to be on their way. Gervinho's £11m arrival is expected to be confirmed tomorrow. Gervinho was not a regular starter for Lille in Ligue 1 last season, but it was his performances in last year's World Cup that attracted Arsène Wengerto the 24-year-old, who can also operate on the wing.

City are also targeting the mid-fielder Samir Nasri, who like Clichy is in the final year of his contract. He rejected a new five-year deal, worth £90,000-a-week, towards the end of last season. The Arsenal manager will not want to see a player for whom he paid £15.8m three years ago leave for nothing in 2012, so it seems likely that he will sanction a deal. Manchester United have also been linked with Nasri and Chelsea, under their new manager, Andre Villas-Boas, joined the race to sign the 24-year-old France midfielder on Friday.

Arsenal are also facing a battle to keep hold of the Russian forward Andrey Arshavin, who is expected to be the subject of a £13.5m bid from Galatasaray, while the midfielder Cesc Fabregas is likely to be heading back to Barcelona after a relentless two-year pursuit by the European champions.

The midfielder Denilson, meanwhile, told Brazilian media last week that he was considering offers from Villarreal and Sao Paulo. With Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott having just two years left on their contracts, it is a worrying time for Arsenal supporters.

Wenger has acquired one player from the Camp Nou, the 16-year-old right-back Hector Bellerin, and is also expected to make a £10m move for the 17-year-old Southampton winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. But neither man is likely to appease fans,as they will not be thrust in to the first team.

Despite this, Bellerin told Spanish television: "When there is a team that guarantees you can play in the first team and above all in the Premier League, then it is difficult to say no."

Didn't know that Gervinho wasn't even a regular last season with Lille, according to the above.. Hmmm...
