Not disagreeing with a word of that but would you not agree that 7m is daylight fcuking robbery ? When you factor in the chronic dearth of good left backs in world football at the mo plus the feeling that we have no "internal solution" if clichy goes worries the fcuk out of me

It is but then he only has one year left on his contract. So its either £7M now or nothing next summer.augie wrote:LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:Boomer wrote:You probably already now but SSN have just shown pictures of Clichy arriving at a privite hospital in the North West for a medical.

And the rumours today say that we have lost out on that argentinian bloke (alverez) cos we dithered too long - wenger dithering ??
Couldnt be true

To crown it all off we still aint made a fcuking bid for cahill after "registering our interest"
Wtf does registering our interest mean ??
Surely you register a genuine interest by making a fcuking bid ? As you know I am not convinced about cahill but he would be ahead of samba on my list of potential transfer targets

I saw that, it doesn't look like anything is happening! No bids, no signings, nothing. They have no excuse, they've got time to negotiate prices etc for those leaving the club so why can't they do the same for the players they apparently want to bring to the club.
It's a pisstake! I've defended and believed in Wenger for a long time but I've given up. He has no intention of proving to any of us that he's learnt anything.

I think Wenger is stuck with needing to sell before buying - thats all. Why buy a Nasri replacement before he is gone? Why buy a Cesc replacement before he is gone? Same with Clichy.
Just wish we could keep the first 2 and build on it really....shame if we can't but thats part and parcel of being an Arsenal fan isn't it? A year of overachievement, then plenty of disappointment.

I think there is a budget. But it will change depending on who stays or goes. Do you prioritize a Cesc replacement or upgrading from Koscielny to Cahill? Can you afford both or do you buy cover at CB and buy a creative superstar? Its not black and white.Gunnersaurus wrote:What happened to his transfer budget?I believe overall wrote:I think Wenger is stuck with needing to sell before buying - thats all. I'll spell it out if we sell Cesc for £40 mill it will cost more than that to replace him. Then can we afford Cahill at £16 mill? If we get more than £5 for Bender then can we get Doyle or can we get someone decent?
Its not hard - its just adding up.
Sorting out the defence should be priority over everything else, because with or without Cesc or Nasri, we will win fuck all with our absolutely dire defensive problems.I believe overall wrote:I think there is a budget. I agree - but if we could get Cahill for £17mill or someone else 95% of Cahill for £10 mill and have enough to get....Villa or someone - what would you do?goonersid wrote:Sorting out the defence should be priority over everything else, because with or without Cesc or Nasri, we will win fuck all with our absolutely dire defensive problems.I believe overall wrote:I think there is a budget. Overall I believe I believe overall that ur spouting rubbish.
Year of overacheivement? When was that exactly?
Need to sell before we can buy? Wasn't that the point of selling our soul and leaving Highbury so we could compete with Europe's elite?
Why have a replacement for Nasri and Cesc before they leave? Erm, cover?
Highest paid manager in the land, matchday revenue on a par with Utd, a wage bill woefully out of line with what we're achieving, highest ticket prices in the world yet the likes of you, Wenger and the board plead poverty.
Let me spell it out for you, it's all bollocks mate.

If Cahill was my target then I would stick to that, and not be distracted by trying to save money to spend elsewhere. I could say the same thing about villa, ie buy Cahill and get someone 95% of villa.I believe overall wrote:I agree - but if we could get Cahill for £17mill or someone else 95% of Cahill for £10 mill and have enough to get....Villa or someone - what would you do?goonersid wrote:Sorting out the defence should be priority over everything else, because with or without Cesc or Nasri, we will win fuck all with our absolutely dire defensive problems.I believe overall wrote:I think there is a budget. There shouldn't be any compromising on players for the sake of money, if your primary target is available and a deal can be done then sign him, and then look to where else needs to be strengthened, confident in the knowledge that you have already signed what you believe to be the best man/men for the job in other areas.
