City to sign gael for 7 million

This transfer gives us the best chance we have of finishing top 4 at City's expense

People are far too quick to forget the good performances and hard work he gave us.

He used to lose concentration and his sale is likely good for us, but by no means was he a bottler.
It wasn't a penalty but Clichy turned away from the ball for no apparent reason and allowed Parnaby to run in behind him, when all that was needed was for Clichy to boot the ball into the stands. :banghead: He'll never be forgiven for that.

I think he'll be a loss next season, no-one in current set up is ready to replace him.

As stated the current tactics leave our full-backs woefully exposed, i think he'll be a better player under Mancini.

For a club badly needing to strenghten our first move in the transfer window has left us even weaker.

To be honest tho, who goes, who arrives, is all a moot point, the club is fucked until Wenger leaves anyway.

How sad, and yet all too predictable, that a summer which should have been about strengthening the squad will yet again be about replacing departed players.

Rejoice, rejoice! One down and many more to go. Even better that he has gone to a team who will be challenging us all the way next year (although at this rate they will be well ahead of us). Wasn’t he also involved in a cock-up late on when we drew 4-4 at home to tottingham a few years back? Total liability.

Not sad to see him go but thankful for his commitment and professionalism shown on and off the field, even if he did make some school boy errors.

Wenger said apparently: "I am not in the market for a left back. We have 3 players who can play in that position. Gibbs, Jenkinson and Vermaelen can also play there. And as well we have Traore coming back"

An injury-prone pup, an unproven pup who by all accounts according to Charlton mates won't be missed there, a bloke who missed all of last season and is our only proper centre back and the less said about Traore the better.

Edit: Scratch that, Wenger never said that.

Well not yet anyway.

goodbye clichy and thanks for everything.

average player who had 5 or 6 brain meltdowns a season and couldn't cross or shoot to save his life. it's a position where we could do on improving a bit, so i think this is good piece of business...
