He's gone.

Good, can't defend, can't cross, is soft as fuck.....but hey, he has a good engine

Not disagreeing with a word of that but would you not agree that 7m is daylight fcuking robbery ? When you factor in the chronic dearth of good left backs in world football at the mo plus the feeling that we have no "internal solution" if clichy goes worries the fcuk out of me :worried: Worries me even more if he puts tv5 at left back

Sorry only just got back in and missed this Augie, I do agree that 7mil is really cheap but was he on the last year of his contract, why the fuck we seem to let our players run down their contracts (and it seems only the players that other teams would be remotely interested in) is beyond me.

Whoever is responsible for this should be sacked immediately because they are truly shite at their job.

I will probably het shot down for this bit I like enrique at newcastle, he was a bit dodgy in his first season but since returning to the prem and what i have seen of him I think he would be a great buy.

I think we were rumoured to be interested but is it just me or in the last few years does it always seem to be just that.........rumours.

Baines could be a decent buy but Everton want about 17 million I read and thats 16 million more than were willing to pay

Would much prefer Baines but as stated, we won't pay that.

Gotta say, enrique did actually show some loyalty by staying at toon when they got relegated, fair play for that

Is Enrique really all that? Im not so sure, Armand Traore is returning from his loan spell at Juventus, he is 6ft 1, fast strong and could come into our squad. It all depends how ready Wenger thinks Gibbs/Traore are to be our two left backs dont it.

From what i have seen both gibbs and traore aren't anywhere good enough yet and i didn't say enrique was all that but he IS a good player and one that would improve our squad imo.

Does it really mate what Wenger really thinks, he'll probably promote Gibbs upto the left back berth to save money, when the world and his wife knows he's not ready and probably won't ever be. As for Traore... do me a favour he's worse than Gibbs...

The fact that he's been on loan at WBA, Portsmouth and Juve, and nobody has tried to sign him tells me that he'll probably be in the first eleven come August

To be fair he is still only 21 years of age, its not about saving money, when Cole went Clichy excelled as a player, it may be the time for Gibbs and Traore to show there progression. I think Baines would be a very good signing, not so keen on Enrique but i have a feeling this money may be invested in other positions, but what do i know hey

I JUST WANT TO FUCKING SIGN SOMEONE

Football transfer rumours: Samir Nasri and Gaël Clichy set for City?

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are all set to vomit out £27m like an endlessly chugging fruit machine coughing up greasy little casino tokens that will vanish through your fingers back into its horrible robot face as quickly as they are excreted out through its grinning little slot. In return they want Samir Nasri and Gaël Clichy from Arsenal. Manchester United are also still interested in Nasri.

Benfica want to sign Nicklas Bendtner. The Portuguese giants, who presumably don't have Sky Sports, could nip in ahead of Fulham, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, all of whom are unwilling to cough up the £12m asking price for the lumbering Dane.

(slightly old news, I liked the comment at the end which sums up Bendtner nicely)

Aly Sissokho of Lyon is the latest player linked at Left Back.

Gibbs is the answer. Some of his performances have been shaky yes, but when he came into the first team here he was excellent and showed it consistently, for me his good performances outweigh his bad ones. Remember when he came on for England for cashley, he rejuvinated the team when he came on and gave them life.

And when Lansbury scored vs the scum in the 4-1 win, the way he celebrated with Lansbury and Wilshere showed how much he loved the fact we just scored against them. Give me that over mediocrity and poor defending any day of the week.

I have to say I have been impressed with Gibbs, and with Traore.

Gibbs is still young, and with someone in front of him who could track back a bit I think he'll be fine next season.

The system we play, with the full-backs getting down the wings, does leave us open for long cross-field balls over either full back, but Gibbs is fast and young enough to be able to cope with that.

It's in the centre that we need new faces, or a bit of organisation. I think left back is not really that pressing at the moment. If Cesc and Nasri go I can see a huge gap there that has to be filled.

And of course there are still 2 months almost to go in the transfer window, although admittedly it would be nice to have a few signings already at The Arsenal, but left back is not the priority, I think down the spine is much more important.

I don't think we are talking about the same Gibbs.

He may go on to be a good defender - but so far, there is little evidence of him actually being able to defend.

Gibbs coming in will not be because he is ready, but because it will be with an element of financial reasoning by Wenger.

Gibbs is still young and learning the game. But my worry with him is the injuries. He seems to pick them up too easily to be reliable at that level.

Agreed!
Plus I'd be happier if I knew that someone like Nutty or Rash was coaching him

Why am I getting the ever sensing fear of dread. :?

Gael has gone and will be replaced by Gibbs. Traore is back and will be his back-up. I wouldn't say Gibbs is injury prone but seems to pick up stupid and lengthy knocks.

If Cesc goes he'll be replaced by Ramsey. Either Jack or Aaron will play in the hole.

The only likely new replacement will be Gervinho for Nasri.

I wouldn't actually be surprised to see us buy a defender. Not Cahill but Samba as he's cheaper. I heard Distan's name mentioned today and thought that be more Wenger like.

3 out 2 in. No different any other summer.
