Day by day we are leaving it to late to sign players. Clubs are going to hold of for ransom unless we sign before we sell.

Also it seems that many players don’t want to come to Arsenal for several reasons. Why would they when our best players are looking to leave, we cant afford them and also because of the huge amounts of bad press we are getting
Double post! Double bubble!

Fair enough but what about the points I made about being held to ransom on the cost of a player after we sell key players.

Doesn’t it make sense for us to of bought baines or Enrique before we sold Clichy?
Clichy was on his way out since March - his contract runs out and he is no good to us - nobody keeps a player who isnt happy.

In an ideal world we would have a replacement lined up - maybe we have - we dont know - all i know is i don't want it to Gibbs - yet.

Mate in an ordinary everyday world where you do you job properly the minimum to have in this situation is a replacement signed sealed and delivered.

Just another point regarding what you said earlier about change being needed/coming.

Would you say that if Clichy, Nasri and Cesc are the ones to leave and that they are only replaced like for like, that would constitute change?

We're talking about three players who want to leave, not who are being moved on to facilitate a new era in the squad.

For a real change to be had, we need to replace those three. Lose at least 3 more of the deadwood floating around the fringes of the first XI and bring in 3 quality replacements.

That is 6. Do you really think Wenger would even contemplate such a massive overhaul in one summer?

Make no mistake, what Arsenal do in the transfer market in ther immediate future will be of a reactionary nature to the players we have been forced to sell.

i dont disagree with any of that - as you will see from what ive been writing! The only thing i would say is i dont think the Club were too bothered about keeping Gael, which im hoping means we have something lined up - blind faith of course but there you go!

Fabregas will go, im not too sure about Nasri yet but im really not bothered if he does.

We need 4, maybe 5 good players - i just hope we get them. Would he have an overhaul? I tihnk his hand may well be forced on this one as you say - and as ive said above, if we dont have a proper squad in place come August SERIOUS questions should be asked - but im not writing off a season in the first week of July like many are keen too.

I just put a post in the transfer thread which would be a response to your post.

Think we'll only see 2 transfers. A new Defender and Gervinho.

Cesc will be replaced by both Ramsey and Jack
Clichy was replaced by the end of the season by Gibbs and with Traore back I can't see Wenger replacing.

3 out 2 in.

I have to say this is the first summer that im actually worried about the state of our first team squad!! Having said that, Clichy leaving isnt a worry, i think we can do better, IF we replace him

At the start of the summer i felt we needed about 3 or 4 which would have really improved us, we could still get those 3 or 4, whoever they may be, but if we lose Clichym Nasri and Fabregas then its all back to square one and we will still be left short when we get the inevitable injuries.

I know its early July but i really think we should be bringing a couple in, we dont know what reports are true and which ones arent, but its certainly frustrating to hear the same names banded about and no actual bids being made. Mind you, as bdb says, we dont actually know whats going on, 5 players could be at the club today having talks....doubtful but we just dont know!

Say Fabregas and Nasri go too, along with Denilson and Bendtner who i fully expect to follow, that will be 5 players gone that we really could do with, so who do we go after to replace all of them? Cahill and Samba would be good....but they dont replace any of the departing players, they were needed anyway....say we get a keeper, same situation, that would be 3 in and none of the players leaving have been replaced. Gervinho could be a start, but then who? I really think Baines would be an excellent signing, could get him for about 10M? Do it Wenger!!

Where have the days gone where you pick up the paper and all of a sudden we have signed Henry and Suker? i loved that, or when Campbell just strolled out at the press conference, from no where... lets et some of that going, its been ages since i got really excited by a signing, come on Arsene, surprise us! :barscarf:

That was a brilliant signing.

Not for whom the player was but given the cicumstances of where Sol was at the time and the other teams in the running for his signature like ManU, including re-signing for the sp-ds, we were back of that cue.
No-one saw it coming and even the press conference caught everyone out.

I wouldn't mind if Wenger moved Koscielny (who I never will accept as a central defender) out left and let him Gibbs compete for place there. That would hopefully free up some cash for signing players in more needed areas.

I think he would be a better left back than cb, which he simply just isn't built for. As far as I understand he used to play as a laft back in his younger days as well.

The internet was about then but so was David Dein, for all his faults he seemed liked he had a big hand in all the transfers, something is differently missing today when it comes to transfers, as Gazidis is no Dein, what does he do???

I did, and was preaching it for weeks to anyone who would listen, it was the only reason I could think of as to why he wouldn't disclose where he was going until his contract had fully expired at s***s.
