Usmanov creeping up to the 30% threshold
I for one welcome Silent Stan not having it all his own way once Usmanov reaches 30% he will get to see the books it will be interesting to see if he then questions Wenger's forced/self inflicted prudence after examining the finances.

Yes, I'd prefer that than Stan being 100% in control. At least it stops him saddling the club with debt.RussGooner wrote:I for one welcome Silent Stan not having it all his own way once Usmanov reaches 30% he will get to see the books it will be interesting to see if he then questions Wenger's forced/self inflicted prudence after examining the finances.
If Usmanov reaches 30% would he then have to make an offer to buy all shares like Stan did?
Maybe Usi and Stan can one day become friends and live in perfect harmony....

Nope, stan is the owner now and he can saddle the club with debt even if usmanov reaches 30%. Usmanov isnt obliged to make an offer at 30% because the ownership of the club is no longer up in the air, stan you would think would reject it anyway.MK Gould wrote:Yes, I'd prefer that than Stan being 100% in control. All getting to 30% does for usmanov is allows him full access to the company accounts.
Re: Usmanov creeping up to the 30% threshold
I'm not sure that's true. Thought I remembered at the time that to do that would need the vote of 75% (or maybe it was higher) and that Usmanov could effectively block him.LDB wrote:Nope, stan is the owner now and he can saddle the club with debt even if usmanov reaches 30%.MK Gould wrote:Yes, I'd prefer that than Stan being 100% in control. isnt it part of the stock exchange rules that once you reach 30% you have to offer to buy the club? If not then why did stand have to?MK Gould wrote:I'm not sure that's true. Who's to say the ownership is not up in the air?

Because stan owns two thirds of the club?dudbux wrote:isnt it part of the stock exchange rules that once you reach 30% you have to offer to buy the club? This is my understanding, i could be wrong
Do we have to wait for the old guard on the board of directors to pass away before we can move forward?
Usmanov may have an alleged dubious background, but then so did Ambramovich (allegedly). He is wealthier than stan and could easily afford to buy his 66% share of the club. He just seems like a man who would shake up the club and move us up to start acting like the 5th richest, biggest club in europe and not the provincial club policy we have now.

The first bit is not right.LDB wrote:

Kroenke can't leverage debt on the Club until he has 75%.
If he gets to 90% then he can force all the shareholders to sell.
Usmanov can see all the books with 30%, but I'm not sure if he has to make an offer for the other shares, and as you say, Kroenke wouldn't agree.
First part: the Board is only Kroenke - and a few tokens that have been left there so it looks like The Arsenal still has an English base. They have no power and no say at all. They own less than 1%.Nos89 wrote:Do we have to wait for the old guard on the board of directors to pass away before we can move forward?

Second part: let's see what Kroenke does this summer re cash for transfers, etc. for before judging, but I aint holding my breath!
Usmanov could - in theory - make us the richest, biggest Club on the planet. Or we could crash and burn. The good thing with Usmanov at the moment is he's preventing Kroenke getting to 75% and leveraging the debt.
The pain in the arse about this is we are still in transition, and will be for the forseeable future, as neither of them have outright control and so we are seemingly stuck in limbo until one or the other folds.
On the other hand maybe transition is better than what might happen if Kroenke leverages the debt, or Usmanov does a Leeds United on us.
And who knows, there is always the possibility that UEFA's new laws will come in and be effective, and then we should really be in a very strong position, whatever happens in the Boardroom.

Im a bit worried about silent stan to be honest. Could this possibly be a quick profit deal for him. Lets say usmanov gets his 30% and offers stan what hes offered everyone else which is almost £4000 more per share that stan paid.
Stan could make a nice profit very quick by selling at the price usmanov is offering.

Yes, well I couldn't find the 'ironic smirk' smilie, but I was hoping that most people could see that the "who knows, there is always a possibility" bit would be understood.I Hate Hleb wrote:Babu wrote:
