More than transfers coming in, I just can't believe we haven't managed to shift some of the dross in our squad. I'd take anything for some of the players to leave.
If I see Denilson or Diaby reach a starting line-up this season then I'll fully admit defeat, and I'm one of the most optimistic/blinkered posters on here.
one of the reasons the scousers and manure sign the better english players is that they are less likely to fuck off abroad (tell me one or two that have recently ? )
The longer wenger stays out of the market (look back over the past 3/4 years , the more the prices rise. He is quoted as saying 1 or 2 signings , it is almost laughable and as if he is working for someone else !
Don't know what you mean mate, we haven't bought anyone at all today still stuck at just the 9 signings thus far, although I'm sure there will be 2 or 3 more to add to the list before the summer is out. We've been linked with Aquilani today like, but I'm not sure I want him to sign
By the way, I see on BBC sport it says Bendtner and Almunia might be on their way out
safcftm wrote:hmm, thats wes brown signed for sunderland- think its about our 7th signing of the summer with O'Shea meant to be not far behind, getting a bit boring all this signing people every day stuff
By the way, as i said many pages back, it wouldnt surprise me at all if you sign Craig Gordon, meant to be quite close to agreeing a move apparently
If you're happy signing man U rejects stops Wenger doing it so good news all round
I'm very happy thank you, thats John O'Shea confirmed for us as well- one with over 230 league games for man united, another with over 250, both with league and champions league winners medals- suits me quite nicely
I think it's an excellent bit of business... I reckon both of them would of been a good addition to our squad...i'm not so sure any of our cb's are better than either of them, and of course they have Fergies winning mentality bred in to them which we could certainly do with a touch of...
Like Silvestre's winning mentality? I know they're both better players than he was but that signing has still scarred me. Maybe the Man U tag makes them sound better than they are, I've never been that impressed with either. I think they're good signings for Sunderland but not a team who should be challenging for the title
According to the Mirror negotiations for Mata are going well, we won't be getting him then
Yea i was going to put a disclaimer on Silvestre , he was way past his best when we picked him up and his best was never that great any way...
But as you said Brown and O'shea are better than Silv was...
I'm not suggesting we should of been looking at either of them as our new star centre back, we still need a quality long term option.. But it would have been nice to have the likes of O'shea or Brown as an experienced option among our 4 or 5 cb's, i think in the short term they would've turned out to be an improvement on most if not all our current options..
I don't know how credible the story about Maxwell and Abidal been offered as a makeweight on the Cesc deal is, but if Cesc is definitely going we could certainly do with both of them...In fact even if Cesc is staying i wouldn't mind if we just bought either or both of them..Maxwell would be an excellent replacement for Clichy and Abidal could play a number of different roles...

after fucking and dumping Bruce's daughter (ruining his holiday in the meantime as he had her on the phone crying her eyes out every day apparently) I cant imagine we'd go for Bendtner. I'd be glad to see him sign like. Erm, we'll pass on Almunia mind!
Arsene Wenger is poised to rekindle his interest in Germany star Per Mertesacker as his search for a new centre-half continues.
The Arsenal boss is a long-term admirer of the 26-year-old and is considering taking advantage of the fact the player only has a year left on his contract with Werder Bremen.

Hugo Rodallega claims he is wanted by Arsenal as part of Arsene Wenger's great squad shake-up.
The Wigan striker, who scored the winner against Stoke to secure his club's Premier League survival in May, has a year left on his Latics contract but is rated at around £12million.
And while on international duty with Colombia at the Copa America in Argentina, Rodallega has claimed he knows of interest from the Gunners and Everton as well as Spanish clubs Villarreal and Seville.
