Stand up sit down but don't have a fight
Last night in the j lower section block nineteen rather than support the team different pockets of the crowd decided they'd rather shout abuse at people standing up. This got so bad at one point a fight almost broke out. Now whilst one person constantly standing up on his own is annoying its for the stewards to sort out but for some people they had to stand up because everyone in front of them was. I personally am fine I'm six foot five most people standing in front of me is not a problem I can still see. if I do stand because its hotting up I usually just lift my seat up a bit because I'm aware I could block someones view. I've also been to games like the Man U and Chelsea games where everyone seemed to stand for the entire 90 mins without a problem. What got my goat was the people complaining, make your point fine but don't hurl the the abuse I heard last night in your fake cockney hardman voices it fools no one and maybe you were at Highbury 20 years ago but so what, it doesn't matter if you were there in 1886 it's no excuse to act like a sad act from Trisha, we are Arsenal I like to think we have a bit more class than what I saw last night. The punch line though is that everyone I saw shouting the abuse and making out that they were bigger fans of the club then everyone else-had left by the time the final whislte blew.

Seriously though, it is annoying people telling you to sit down. There was a guy constantly standing up in front of me in the Spurs semi-final this season; I didn't mind and I stood up when he did. The second half, a couple behind me made a mistake of where to sit so they swapped their seats with two young guys. Now, whenever I stood up, they'd moan and groan. It only happened once because I wasn't standing much after as I didn't want to discomfort them. It is very stupid though, they are young so they should stand up. Unless you are a child or an old person, there is no reason you should sit down and tell other people to do so.

Happened to a few people against wigan 2-0 at home, people were standing up in Block 19 in The East Stand right near the away fans, people kept moaning and swearing man, I was one of those stand ing up too. I always stand, anyhting that hepls the atmosphere is a good thing. In the end the whole block was stadning.khalid_red wrote:Dixonwingwizard wrote:Last night in the j lower section block nineteen rather than support the team different pockets of the crowd decided they'd rather shout abuse at people standing up. This is where the debate of having safe standing areas comes back in. I am 100 percent in favour of bringing safer areas back, as i would much rather stand and sing with like minded people.
Block 19 was not the only area last night where there was trouble, i was upper tier much to my sadness, and in block 10 there was an incident in the first half where the stewards were tryin to take someone out for persistant standing and all of a sudden everyone was laying into the stewards. Half of the crowd just stopped watching the football and looked at that

I just rang it. only for afew seconds tho. probly still have to pay a fiver.
It was kicking off by us last night too. I dont think you should stand unless everyone is otherwise you will just block the view behind you. That is afcourse if the action on the pitch warants standing. thats why i like away games, stand for the whole match ...
