Gervinho confirmed
Yet again we have dipped into the poor French league to buy a player that has cost a fairly large chunk of our budget (depending on report £10m-£12m) but I ask why?
We have still not improved our defence or keeping situation, the most important and urgent area to be addressed in my opinion, and signed a player with a scoring record worse than 1 in 3 games (have we not learnt anything from the Chamakh deal?) and who has 12 assists in 142 games.
Surely signing Shay Given (going to Villa for £3.5m) and a centre back (anyone of Cahill, Samba or Metersacker) should be done first.
Is it just me or are we in danger of not addressing our weaknesses properly again?

People dont seem to realise that its not just our defence that needs strengthening
Yes the defence fell apart at the back end of last season but did you see how paceless and toothless we were in attack? I welcome this signing but like all signings this summer, its value will be judged by our outgoings.

Our defence is consistently sh1t. If wenger does not address this, the evidence against him will be undeniable, he will not be able to hide again.
BUT, how anyone can moan if we say buy a wide player, who is not an AM, is beyond me. If we buy a striker will people moan, because we have Chamakh, vela and bendtner???
Our Edit: Attack was inept many times, during the run at the end, games against chelsea away, utd fa cup and OT, numerous average defences like Villa, Sunderland (who everybody else could score against). How anyone can think our attack does not need addressing is pure mental.

Exactly,
Our defence gets pelters, but our attack bar RVP went missing when we needed them last year. We seriously need some attacking flair as well as a new CB.
Good luck to the lad, from what I've seen he's pretty hand and powerful.

Our attack could do with a little more no doubt about that but the main concern is defensively. If we stop conceding fucking goals we stand a chance of winning games. Teams that rely on outscoring opponents win fuck all. Buy some defenders and defensively minded midfielders Wengerrigsby wrote:Exactly,
