i agree with you rigsby, we will not win anything if our defence is as poor as its been for the past 5 years.

We're in a pickle because now our defence is still poor, but we've become a predictable attacking unit as well. I cannot bare to face a top team like utd chelsea, and just watch us pass side ways, with no edge, no penetration, now lesser teams apply the template like stoke!!!

But like you say if we had a good defence, we wouldn't need to rely on scoring goals so much.

Didn't lyon make the semis a couple of years ago where they lost to bayern?

I must admit i find the snobbery towards some of the Continental leagues bar spain to be a tad based on assumption..

When was this?

no snobbery involved at all ive always been into European Club football but the facts are the facts how many of the French national team starting 11 play in France? Not many id guess and they have had very little impact in the European Cup in recent years

personally i believe we are short 1 or 2 african players with sh*t hair so this is a welcome relief. spuds applied the pressure with Pienar*e and with chelski showboating with Drgba and Mickel we needed this signing. well done AW for filling this void. another choice signing

Where is the urgency to bring in defenders and do deals at the speed gerviniho was done???

Yes we need strengthening up top but the PRIORITY has to be the defence.

Hope the lad does well but he's not what we need most at the moment.
