Arsenal - still the Pride of London?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal - still the Pride of London?

Post by MK Gould »

Was at Thorpe Park on Sunday. Some great rides!

Thing that struck me though, especially as this is more West London than North, was the sheer number of Arsenal shirts on display....despite all the negativity around.

I did not see ant West Ham or Spuds (unless you count one for the Spurs US Baseball Team) and only saw one Chelsea....... But there were literally dozens of gooners. In fact, there were easily more gooner shirts on display than all other teams put together!

The down side was that the more I see of the new shirt the more I think it still looks sh*te!

Not london I know so doesn't technically count, but I got back from Bruges earlier and over the course of the long weekend I saw five brit tourists in Arsenal shirts, one Chelsea and no other English footie teams :barscarf:

Surprising too as the Thorpe Park area is mainly Chelsea, i'm 5 minutes away from Thorpe Park and only know a few gooners from the area, hit loads of chelsea and quite a few spuds

Hmmm, perhaps I'm a miserable bastard, but this sort of stuff will not warm the cockles of your heart come October/November when the normal malaise sets in.... MEH....

Agree with Frank, this won't fatten us come May when we are licking our wounds after another Wenger managed disaster. You are right about the new shirt though

Dublin (or Dubling as you pommies pronounce it! ) is still bollock-full of Manure "fans" that have never been to a game in their life, but own all the Manure jerseys, those mad bastard die-hards...

Just about sums up how the board think of the club.Selling more shirts is better than winning trophies.Whether we like it or not since 2004 we have not been the best team in London

In Belfast it's largely Man U and the dippers. However I've always looked at this with only a small trace of arrogance to be quality over quantity.
