Why the abuse of Bartley? I reckon he's a perfectly valid squad player. Squilacci makes him look like Beckenbauer.
Agree completley, we need a defender who loves to defend, to win the first ball - so that we are not having to worry about the knock downs.
Who currently at our club is going to deal effectively with Carroll, Crouch, Vidic, the Bolton thugs, the Stoke throw in and every other ariel challenge that will come our way next season cause it sure as hell aint going to be Djourou, Sqilliaci or Koscienly which leaves Tommy V having to mark about 4 people.
I don't know if Barltey is the answer, but with his height and strength he is halfway to being a solution in some matches

Well said. I watched Bartley a couple of times also for Rangers, just because of him, and thought he impressed. The Scottish League is very physical, and he excelled, and isn't that exactly the sort of player we need. Someone with some bollocks?...
I agree with the above and the others that have defended Bartley. Although not the finished article, I've been impressed by his fighting attitude and from what I've seen of him, Kyle is more advanced and physically stronger than Miquel and infinitely better than Squillachi ever will be, even now at his age.
The surprising thing for me was that he didn't even get a few minutes in the 2 tour matches. Hopefully Wenger will give the lad a run-out in the next couple of games and at least see if he's worth persevering with as one of the back-up CH this season rather than going out on loan before eventually being sold.
Would love to see Bartley in the team ahead of Squillaci. Two words - fan pressure. The media will pick up on it and how I'd love Wenger to crumble under the pressure and select Bartley for a few games and see how he does.
ss18 is shit and will not get any better, but putting a pretty much untested centreback/dm in a prem game is asking for trouble both players should be nowhere near starting for us in major competitions if we want to win anything.
Cannot for the life of me understand where all this love for bartley is coming from I am not gonna slate the guy cos as far as I am concerned he has never played at the top level yet but for that reason also I cannot talk him up yet either. Do the names denilson, diaby, bendtner, vela, randell, pennant etc mean nothing to you guys ? All great prospects who delivered fcuk all on the big stage cos they simply were not good enough so while I am not dismissing bartley I also wont be putting my faith on him based solely on the fact that he is better than squillachi
Well I'm not sure who is 'talking him up'? People are just saying that he deserves a chance ahead of Squillachi because unlike the frenchman, he might just prove good enough. However, until he gets a chance, how will we know?
The only things we have to go on are his Youth appearances (where he didn't really stand out for me) and his loan spells at Sheff Utd and Rangers (where I was more impressed with his performances. Going by what I saw of him in those games I believe he is deserving of a chance, especially ahead of Squillachi - and that's why his name keeps coming up as the reference point. If he can get games, why can't Bartley?
And finally, I know I shouldn't have to say this but I will anyway: just because a lot of the previously talked up youth product haven't lived up to expectations, it doesn't mean no-one ever will.
