I think Jagielka is the better player of the two, but I actuall prefer Samba ahead of both of them.TeeCee wrote:Jagielka is 29 next month, it would be complete madness to spend more than 10m on him in my opinion, even though we need a defender! He's not worth anywhere near 20m, especially at 29 yo. Cahill at 17m would be a much ,much better option and Jagielka isn't any better than Cahill.
Transfer Rumours Thread
Agreed. I'ld prefer Samba. I'm not a huge Cahill fan.
The reason Jagielka is valued high is because he's just signed a new contract. Something that could have been avoided had we signed him last year.
And so what if he's 29, he's experienced which is what we need. For the 2-3 years he plays in that defence could actually sort it out and maybe teach Djorou and Kos a thing or two.

Me too. The thing is that putting aside their lack of inches and over-inflated prices, neither has struck me before as natural leaders, unlike Samba - who looks the type that when he tells you to do something, you do it!!goonersid wrote:I think Jagielka is the better player of the two, but I actually prefer Samba ahead of both of them.TeeCee wrote:Jagielka is 29 next month, it would be complete madness to spend more than 10m on him in my opinion, even though we need a defender! Absolutely agree that jagielka is the better defender of the three of them (samba included) but he lacks the physical presence we so badly need. The signing of samba totally underwhelms (sp

Any one of Cahill, Samba or Jagielka would be a massive improvement on whoops-a-daisy Djourou, shite Squillaci or crap Koscielny. The thought of going through next season with those 3 at centre back fills me with dread.
But remember this people - Wenger fucked about all last summer re: Mark Schwarzer over what amounted to small change. Because of his stupidity and stubbornness he left us in a situation where we needed to bring a 41 yr old out of retirement as we tried to win the League.
I expect him to do the same penny pinching this summer and leave us up Shit Creek with no paddle and 3 dodgy centre halves.
Unless he spends our hard earned money on decent players, how can the 6.5% rise in prices be justified????

Not even in the same league.1989 wrote:Fuck Samba, fuck Jagielka, fuck Cahill. Buy Hangeland.
I am still not convinced by any of these names. Although I am sure they would all improve our defensive options I really like the idea of findind some Slavic hardman. Like a Serb who looks like he may eat Croatian children for breakfast.
Not totally overwhelmed by any of the defenders we are linked to the only bonus with Jagielka is that he's better in goal than at least three of our four keepers.augie wrote:goonersid wrote:I think Jagielka is the better player of the two, but I actuall prefer Samba ahead of both of them.TeeCee wrote:Jagielka is 29 next month, it would be complete madness to spend more than 10m on him in my opinion, even though we need a defender! That's why Schezney has got the no 13 shirt - it keeps no 1 for Jagielka.Nos89 wrote:augie wrote:goonersid wrote:I think Jagielka is the better player of the two, but I actuall prefer Samba ahead of both of them.TeeCee wrote:Jagielka is 29 next month, it would be complete madness to spend more than 10m on him in my opinion, even though we need a defender!
