I would have watched Arsenal FC play on a slagheap (23/2)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

usual thread starter… I would suggest if there are any further comments on this, that you continue with the thread began for the original exclusive…

however, it’s a free country, so they tell me. So if you want to get it rolling again here, it’s your call

Sentiments I can understand

I totally agree with the author. Football has spiraled out of control and is no longer the game I knew it to be. Sure, the quality of the players is better but the atmosphere is crap and the fans are getting absolutely fleeced, ultimately paying disloyal assholes and even more scummy agents.

I gave it up four years back and I feel better for it - yearning a return to the North Bank days was just too much and when I sat down at Arsenal v Birmingham City six days after we won the league at WHL and the ground is like a morgue, I asked myself 'what you are doing giving up a bundle of money and your time for this 'atmosphere and demographic shift?'

I wish the author good luck - but realise, the days of the working class man at football are long gone. Indeed, my only question is how it took you so long to come to this conclusion? I had been pondering since the turn of the century and in the end the perpetual Vieira/Anelka et al lack of respect for the club became too much...there is no loyalty anymore.
