Probably just wishful thinking on some fans part though!

Nero Wenger at it again

Arsenal's miserable summer in the transfer market has continued after the two frontrunners in the race to replace Cesc Fabregas moved ever further from a joining the club.
Santi Cazorla, the Villarreal midfielder, will become Malaga's record signing after La Liga's equivalent of moneybags Manchester City moved quicker than the Gunners and agreed an £18million deal.

Arsenal had hoped to pair Cazorla with Spanish international Juan Mata, using the expected £35m from the imminent sale of Fabregas to fund moves for two of Spain's brightest talents.

Better offer: Santi Cazorla is set to become Malaga's record signing at £18m
However Valencia president Manuel Llorente moved to end speculation over Mata's future by insisting his club will not sell the attacker at any price.

Valencia are reluctant to sell having lost David Villa and David Silva a year ago to ease their financial problems, and Llorente has reiterated his stance regarding the former Real Madrid youngster.
He told Superdeporte: 'The decision is clear and money will not change our position. Valencia will not sell to any club that wants to buy Mata.'

The 26-year-old Cazorla is more versatile than Fabregas, capable of playing anywhere in an attacking position behind a central striker, while Mata is most comfortable out wide but has occupied the No 10 role at club and country level.

Wanted man: Valencia's Juan Mata is not for sale, according to his club's president
The deal for Fabregas which will see the Arsenal captain realise his dream of playing for boyhood club Barcelona is expected to go through this week, with Arsenal unable to make serious bids for a potential replacement until such a point.

Barca vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu was in London over the weekend and Spanish media reported on Monday that a new bid was being considered by Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis.
Fabregas missed the friendly win against FC Cologne in Germany and the club have cited an ongoing hamstring injury, with insiders denying any suggestion that the player is effectively on strike.

End of the road: Cesc Fabregas is almost certain to leave Arsenal this summer
Arsenal have already missed out on several transfer targets this summer, most notably Phil Jones who opted for Old Trafford over Emirates, while teenage striking sensation Joel Campbell pulled out of a move at the 11th hour, and Romelu Lukaku looks set for Chelsea. The club have also had a bid rejected for Everton's Phil Jagielka.

And now Arsene Wenger has missed out on Cazorla who joins former Manchester United man Ruud van Nistelrooy at Malaga, along with French international Jeremy Toulalan and several others.

Wenger may now turn his attentions back to Wigan's James McCarthy after having an earlier approach dismissed.

This cracked me up & made me angry in equal measures today. Gervinho "saved us from dizzy prices"?! So Arsene, you're saying thank fuck we didn't spend shitloads because we have Gervinho instead?! And you're basing this on half an hour against a mid table Bundesliga club?! Shouldn't you at least wait a year or two before declaring him our saviour?! Wait until he's scored consistently important goals for us and all that?!

 :banghead:

What happened to the previous title of the thread? Given the nonsense spouted by our dear leader I thought it would've been appropriate?  :banghead:
