Break the bank for Cahill, Wenger!

Post by RussGooner »

Not sure about Samba or Jagielka but Cahill is the ugly centre half we desperately need and after yesterday surely even the visually impaired Wenger must have noticed.

Yeah. He is ugly, so it will not mater so much if he gets smashed in the face when he goes up to head the ball.

Sign him.

Would prefer Samba every day of the week before either of the other two. He might be considered the less talented of the 3 but to me he's the most natural defender and a big lad as well. The guy will also shake a few people up when it's necessary!! 8)

Have to agree with you on that one, I think Samba is a better fit for Arsenal, and I also don't think a move to Arsenal would be best for Cahill.

Samba over Cahill any day of the week.

Cahill wasn't considered good enough at Villa. Went to Bolton where he gets lots of practice defending. I believe he only came to prominence because Rio and Terry got injured but it's a long drop to the next nearest English CB.

Does anyone else think that even if we sign one of these three, they'll still end up as back-up to the likes of Djourou or Koscielny?

I can see it now.

"Samba trains with Youth Team after falling out with Wenger. Squillacci signs new long-term deal....zzzzzzzz...................."

I'm not sure any of these are the answer. Sure Cahill is a decent centre half, but is he really the world class centre back we desperately need or is he just better than the poor excuses for defenders we currently have?

IMO Cahill will of course be an improvement, but I'm not entirely convinced. With the scouting network we must have, I refuse to believe there isn't one big beast of a centre back out there who would be better suited.
