Transfer Rumours Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I quite like Matt Javis but....

I don't think he's good enough
He's not an Arsenal type player
not a player we need
and most importantly HE'S NOT A DEFENDER! :banghead: :banghead:
It's not me mate, my computer does it automatically

Anyway, I think there's some confusion. Matt J/J Mata - Wenger must think we're stupid.

What is all this 'not an Arsenal type player' we sound like fucking spurs fans. Maybe these types of players are what we've lacked. Not technically great but gives you something different.

I mean would any of you sign Ray Parlour for us if he was playing today? No you probably wouldn't, but Ray was a great player for us when Wenger took over.

Ermm...I would sign Ray. :? Like how I would sign Parker.

Players like Jarvis, Downing, Young and Johnson wouldn't fit into the way we play. I know he's a striker but at the moment you could even add Theo into that list as well.

What do you mean? I know conventional wingers are completely useless for us because we dont get men in the box but johnson has always struck me as so much more then that, especially when cutting in from the right.

Johnson has a good eye for a pass, but is a bit slow.

I am serious when I think we should bid for him if he is unsettled, as has been alleged.

And I am serious that he has the potential to play the Cesc role.

Johnson is a dribbler and crosser of a ball, not a passer!!!

Although I've always thought the guy was a talented winger, I can't believe some of the stuff I've read on this thread. Johnson 'a great player' and 'has the potential to play the Cesc role' ? :? What the feck are you buys smoking because I need to get some of that shit!!!

Tweet from Guillem Balague 5 minutes ago....

"Mata's clause to sign player cheaper (20-23m euros) finished yesterday. Clubs agreed fee, player happy to go but money didnt arrive...Spurs tried to get him but he only wanted to go to Arsenal or Barcelona. Without Cesc money, Arsenal didnt want 2 pay.Now he costs 60m euros"

"Only a superoffer of 30m euros plus will get him but now the most likely scenario is a new contract with Valencia"

You really can't make this up, can you! :banghead: :banghead:

If that's true, then............ Without the Cesc money?

Truly time to rip up this club and start again. Mickey Mouse. I wouldn't even call them amateur, as that would be doing a disservice to noble people who try their hardest for the love of their sport.

ALL happening because Barcelona won't cough up what Fabregas is worth. They have nothing to lose in this scenario and Arsenal have everything.

I don't see how this is going to finish. It's clearly now holding us up in trying to do other deals.

We would have signed him had Cesc left for Barca. Mata would have no place in the team otherwise...
