I believe and have heard from a reliable source that Spanish release clauses do not apply to English clubs, or at least in the case of Mata that it does not, which indicates that VCF are open to bids of 18m, as they accepted that bid from the scum.

So it's all good?

City are going to make a 22mil bid for Nasri and going to tell arsenal to either take it or leave it.

Juan Mata's father and agent has revealed Valencia have rejected Arsenal's offer for the Spain international winger.

The 23-year-old is a man in demand as he is now into the final year of his Los Che contract, meaning he could leave for free next summer.

A host of clubs are circling for the player's signature and Arsenal are reportedly vying with the likes of Tottenham and Inter Milan for his signature.

However, it seems Arsenal will need to increase their offer for Mata if manager Arsene Wenger is to get his man before the summer transfer window closes.

Mata's father, Juan Manuel Mata Rodriguez, also says his son has great respect for Italian giants Inter Milan, although the Italian giants are yet to table an offer.

Rejected
"Valencia simply rejected their offer," said Mata's father to calciomercato.com. "After some hesitation they answered 'no' to the Gunners' offer.

"So my son remains a Valencia player, for now. But I don't think it's their last offer.

"There are several offers for Mata and I think that Arsenal will come forward again. The situation is still evolving.

"Are Inter Milan one of the interested teams? I know my son holds Milan in high esteem. We'll see if Inter will come forward directly."

Accorcing to Mata's father the deal is not dead and they expext Arsenal to come back. He is also in the final year og his contract, so £50 million wont ever happen.

SSn if you can be arsed to look

Guardian reports that he has four years left:
He has four years to run on his contract at the Mestalla, which he renegotiated after he returned with the Spain squad from their triumphant World Cup campaign last year.

Carry on Sleepwalking - a modern day addition to the "Carry On" series featuring Gazidis and Wenger's approach to the months of July, August and January.

I'm actually starting to think its quite funny now.

The funniest story is Gooner Ed's, Jagielka and Cahill about to be unveiled as our new signings

...remember "Carl can play there too"

I think the 4 year contract thing is wrong. They were in negotiations over it but I don't think he has signed it. Valencia are far too in debt to be handing out big deals.

Thankfully seems to deal is not dead

I agree mate - I think the deal is still on. The whole "clause expiring" thing doesn't really mean much anyway. Valencia need the money and everybody knows it - they can still sell for however much they please.

Yeah, the clause just means 50 mil forces them to agree a deal, they can still sell him to us. He seems to want to come, hopefully something gets worked out.

He didnt sign a new contract, had negotiations but like Nasri they got nowhere. His father has just said on spanish radio that he has a year left.

Even P Diddy Wood sounds confident in the star today
