Could actually press charges for that under s20 of the Offences Against The Person Act 1861.
The fact it was on a football pitch doesn't make any difference, Taylor would have a defence of Volenti Non Fit Inuria (Eduardo voluntarily took the risk of harm) like boxers do, but not if the offence was clearly outside of the rules of the game therefore nullifying such a defence.
BANG HIM UP!!!!!!!

This is the result of teams being allowed to "get in our faces" as the pundits put it. this had been coming for a long time because referees do not punish serious foul play harshly enough and do not give players enough protection. this could not have happened in any other league as the referees consider foul play a serious matter, a player like taylor would be unemployable in serie A or la liga as he would concede at least 10 free kicks every game.
if Eddie's career is ended by this (i really hope not) then our lawyers should get on the case and get money out of birmingham city for buying a replacement player, and all possible future earnings for eduardo as compensation. a club like birmingham could not stand to lose that sort of money and would be pretty much destroyed financially as a result. take that bastard taylor for every penny he has as well.

i want to see birmingham city destroyed as a football club for what was allowed to happen today, if they lose that sort of money (and we certainly have a case) they'll go on a slide that no team can recover from, do you think this would be allowed to happen again if clubs thought they could do a leeds as a result, the reason why taylor made that tackle is because mcleish told his team to go out and "get in our faces". what really hurts is that we got these *word censored* promoted by loaning them our players.

I watched Taylor play against our reserves the other week on Arsenal TV. All he did that night was kick and bully our under 18s. The bloke is exactly what is wrong with English football. The referee was dead right to send him off and the FA should take the appropriate action. Paul Davis got 9 matches for breaking Cockerill's jaw - this *word censored* has just finished a top class strikers career and will only get 3 games according to the rules - what a fucking disgrace.

The clubs take out insurance for this kind of thing, so all that will be covered.
That's why players are forced to quit through injury and then reappear in the non-league like say Julian Dicks did at Canvey, because the clubs can't get the insurance on a player.

Totally agree - it cost him an England career. So out of character I'd love to know what was said to provoke him. Rocastle was down injured at the time so I can only surmise that something was said to upset Davo, if you know what I mean.Cus Geezer wrote:When you think back to that punishment, it shows you how hard done by Davis was.Paul Davis got 9 matches for breaking Cockerill's jaw - this c**t has just finished a top class strikers career and will only get 3 games according to the rules - what a fucking disgrace.

According to wikipedia, Cockerill is now a "full time stripper"

Has there been any consideration to the fact that Taylor may have had some kind of 'bung' deal with someone related to Man Utd? I know it may sound quite far-fetched, but recent happenings in Serie A and those exposed by BBC suggest that the game is full of crooks. Could this be anything of the same nature?

Steady on!paul davis wasnt hard done by,, he put in a sneaky punch and broke his jaw,, 9 matches should have been more
Suspension - yes, but nine matches for that? That's nearly a quarter of a season.
Taylor's fucked a player's career. If Eduardo does come back, it's more than likely he won't be the player he was. He'll get three or four matches suspended at the most.
Where's the justice?
