Carlos Vela

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Carlos Vela

Post by dvbrisgooner1 »

I don't know if we're allowed to, but with Van Persie nowhere to be seen we are down to Ade, Nik and Theo. Will Wenger now call on Vela from Osasuna to add some striking options, or will Barazite get an early promotion as cover?

I can't see that happening at all because Vela will need a lot of time to adapt in England. If we are short on strikers, expect to see 4-5-1 more.

I think he does because Wenger was going to get him back in January but decided to let him stay in Osasuna.

The reason he's in Spain is to gain a Spanish ID card which you get after 2 years out there, so he wouldn't be hindered by being a non-EU foreigner which are still subject to restrictions on numbers per team. In terms of a work permit Arsenal would have little trouble in gaining one under the exceptional talent rule - he has already played and scored for Mexico as well as good performances in La Liga.

when we sent van bronchurst on loan to spain a few years ago we were told that you cannot recall a player if he is on loan in another country but you can if he is on loan to a club in your own country. Dont know if the rules have changed since though. To be honest though, and I dont want to sound like a drama queen here, but the eduardo injury is too fresh in the mind to think about replacing him just yet
