Mate, we can't do a lot better than Lassana Diarra because there aren't that many better than him in that position. For me it was a sad day when he left - he was / is an infinitely better player than Song. A real box to box, athelete of a player and far better on the ball too. He was also infinitely better than Flamini

Wenger mismanaged him, no doubt about it. We bought him from Chelsea where he was a reserve right back, knowing that he longed for first team football in midfield. So we played him in the odd Carling Cup game and wondered why he was upset that he lost his place in the French team and kicked up a fuss. Maybe he didn't handle it perfectly, but neither did Wenger that let him, Flamini and Gilberto all go at once. People will claim he tried to keep Flamini, and that Diarra was a "rotten egg" and all that old shite again, but the fact is that we had 3 established international CDMs and now we have Song and a crop of kids. If anyone tells me that is "great progress"....well they must be Arsene

Another example to me of how the class of 2008 was better than the 2011 class. So how he claims this crop of players are progressing is beyond me.

If Lassana Diarra is available and signs for another PL team, everyone will see what a quality player he is compared to Song

Samba off to Spurs

Cahill off to Liverpool

Mata staying at Valencia

Any more snippets from 'insiders' or Gooner Ed ? I thought Mata was all done and dusted before the Emirates Cup and the other two before Benfica.

Keep dreaming......there's nobody else coming in

Bartley's just got his new contract, Miquel "is a winner" (just won the u-19 tourni with Spain), Carl "can play there too", plus "Squillaci and Koscielny have integrated well" (quote GIC 21st October 2010), and we have Djourou and TV5 (who can also cover those wonderfully reliable full backs Gibbs and Traore)

Have to agree BG! :barscarf:

Anyone that honestly thinks Wenger is deliberately sabotaging the club needs to get off the crack cocaine. I've heard some retarded theories but that is fucking ludicrous.

Wenger's problem is he believes he can do anything he puts his mind to. He believes he can build the perfect footballing team by gathering young unknowns and developing them as a unit into the next Barcelona and do it on a budget too.

His ego is out of control and there are no stops or checks in place at the club to reign him in. A by-product of this is he may well damage the club long term but to say that he is doing that deliberately is just stupid I'm afraid.

The issue is one of rampant ego, incompetance and delusion. NOT one of deliberate sabotage.
Orr Orrrrrrrrr maybe he's got syphillis and it's eating his brain away....I mean he did stray didn't he and shag that skelton posing as frog DJ !!!!

That could explain a LOT!!!!! :D

Absolutely agree. Wenger has simply cocked up the whole DM scenario of 2008. He really has not got a clue how important a good DM is, and what he gives to the team both defensively and offensively. Showing faith in someone like Song, when only recently Wenger had the likes of Flamini, Gilberto, and Diarra suggests that he is blindingly stubborn, or he is mentally ill.

Would love Diarra back, but it wont happen with Wenger in charge. Ive said this before - what we need is a really bad start to the season. I want this slow painful death to stop - a quick sharp reality check is what we need in order to change the direction of the club.

Dalglish hit the nail on the head

Spending money does not guarantee you success. (But) I don’t know of any football club that has ever had success that has not spent money. So it is necessary.

Arsenal must have more money in the bank than Liverpool and we have not spent even a quarter what they have done . :banghead: :banghead:

No he fcuking wasnt - flamini made a name for himself that season and as a result earned a place in the french squad and of course he subsequently lost that place when he went to be a bench warmer at milan. Prior to that season he was merely a utility back up player for us and I would strongly dispute your notion that he was a regular in the french squad before that season

Diarra was an international too. What's all this "get a grip" nonsense. If you've got something to say, expand your point. If as usual you have nothing to say, go back to the Xbox.....these bloody school holidays....

Mata staying at Valencia according to his manager.

Terrible business by Valencia given their debt situation.
