petition to ban taylor

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I dunno about banning him for life - that might be a bit OTT.

I think he should face criminal charges though, why should a football pitch be exempt from criminal sanctions for causing such intentional physical injury, which is not within the rules of the game.

The tackle was designed to injure the player, simple as that. He may not have been trying to break his leg, but he was certainly out to hurt Eduardo.
well thats debatable, i dont think it was, for me if he was you would expect a run up and a lunging two footed tackle. its my opinion, your welcome to your own, im not justifying the challenge, but i think 99 times out of hundred eddy would get away unscathed.
Check out the photos of the contact on the web (some on this forum). He hits him half way up the shin which indicates to me that he wasn't trying to get near the ball. It doesn't have to be a 2 footed tackle to be trying to hurt someone.
true it was just my assumption - i add i may be wrong, the guy could be an aboslute c**t but if u check another thread there is a link (on the eduardo injury, page 4) with 9 photos from the incident and taylor looks pretty gutted. More importantly, we all wish dudu the best and hope he recovers to play again
TK, I had the same opinion, but this link http://www.footytube.com/2008/02/23/ars ... rdo-injury (from Cesc is God's "Well?" thread) changed my view completely, especially the last angle.

The still photos say nothing about this but the replays of the tackle strongly suggest that Taylor (a) at no time was going for the ball and (b) brought his foot in a downward action onto the middle of Eduardo's shin. He may not have intended to snap Eduardo's shin but this is much worse than anything we've seen from Kevin Davies, Robbie Savage and the like.

This deserves a very long ban (meaning a large number of months), a civil action to recover compensation and (I am sorry to say) a criminal investigation. It really is that bad.

its just tragic for Eddy

11980 on the petition and rising fast

who will this actually get sent to? its pointless filling it out if nothing is going to happen. I want that *word censored* banned for as long as Eddy is out - thats fair enough and of course he should pay compensation too

Signed. He meant it, smiled and everything. No need for it. Kick him out, I signed.

12484 signatures now :D He won't get banned for life and maybe his tackle wasn't malicious on purpose but he should still get banned for a considerate amount of time. As I said on another thread, too harsh? So is Eduardo's fate.

Dont see the point of the petition. Irrespective of the number of people for it, no action would be taken. Besides the truth is we see those sort of challenges week in week out in the league. Often players are lucky enough to not get sufficient contact to break their legs, often they jump. Banning of Taylor for life wont stop these challenges. FIFA needs to come down hard on these stud showing challenges. Its not a matter of if but when a player will get a career threatning injury cause of them. I dont think a mere red card and a 3 match ban is enough. Maybe the ban could be extended to twice the number of matches and the player be fined heavily.

I know it's a waste of time but I think it shows support.
