Not according to ssn it aint..............they have said that reports in spain say that there is no chance of this transfer happening and they cited cost as one the reasons behind this
Arsène Wenger has ruled out signing Valencia's Spain Under-21 winger Juan Mata, saying: "We do not sign Mata. I do not have to tell you why not."
Don't really know whether to believe it or not, considering this morning he was convinced that nobody would be leaving the club just 4 hours before Cesc boarded a plane for Barca. His quotes & behaviour are becoming increasingly like those of somebody mentally unstable...
Arsene Wenger has revealed that his attempts to sign Valencia winger Juan Mata have failed.
Mata has been a target for Arsenal for much of the summer but Wenger confirmed the Spain international will not be moving to the Emirates Stadium.
"We will not do (a deal for) Juan Mata," Wenger said. "I don't have to give a reason."
The Frenchman, who looks set to lose Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri over the next few days, also distanced himself from a move for Brazilian playmaker Jadson, who is valued at around £10m by Shakhtar Donetsk.
"We are nowhere near on Jadson. We are not talking to Shakhtar about him," Wenger added.
The Gunners boss did move to allay fans' fears over a perceived weakness in defence but warned he would not be pressurised into panic buying.
"We will have a new centre-back by the end of the transfer window because Thomas Vermaelen only played five games last year," he said.
"To buy just for the sake of buying - you won't find me there. If I'm convinced the player has the quality, I will always do it if he's better than the players we have."
Of all the stupid quotes Wenger has uttered this summer alone, this latest one really winds me up the most.
"Although fans are clamouring for a new centre-half, Wenger hinted the closest they may get is the return to fitness of Thomas Vermaelen.
“We will have a new centre-back by the end of the transfer window - because Vermaelen only played five games last year," he said.
As others have said, it's like he takes pleasure in winding the fans up. So we are relying on a centre-back who has already showed signs of injury again and one injury could mean Squillaci in the team. It's hard to be optimistic about our chances when the defence hasn't been strengthened whatsoever bar the signing of a largely unproven fullback from League One.
Wenger "I don't have to give a reason' for failing to sign Mata. The guy is a freak! why not give the fans some info? Or is it because you fucked things up royally Arsole. I now expect us to sign one unknown French midfielder as a replacement for Nasrigas. What a manager!
