So what was being sung about Nasri on Saturday?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yes, in what way Demun?
I just found the amount of overly abusive messages back to him a bit sad. I know there's a lot of frustrated people out there, but sinking to that level is just unnecessary. If I was a footballer, I'd steer well clear of Twitter, you're going to piss people off no matter what you say or do, just by virtue of being a footballer.
Can't say I've read any messages posted to him on Twitter, but judging by the ones posted on here, I can't see anything out of line.

Perhaps you and I are different. I think that, given the amount of adoration that was bestowed upon Nasri last year, given the amount of money we pay to watch The Arsenal and given the amount of money that he earns to play for a team we've all dreamed of playing for since we were little, I expect a little respect in return.

Given that he's signed up for a Twitter account, he's got the perfect platform upon which to communicate with supporters that idolised him so much last year (and to a lesser extent, the others). However, he's chosen to say absolutely nothing while a combination of him and his agent are using our club and our current situation as leverage to facilitate a huge pay day whether it be with us or someone else. Then, to top it all off, when he finally chooses to engage with the supporters (which, let's face it, are the sole reason there is a nanas08 after all), he slags them off for having the nerve to pull him up on using the current instability and financial restrictions upon the club that they all love, to his monetary advantage.

Yes, it's only a job for him. Yes, we'd all accept a different job if it offered more money. But being a professional footballer comes with certain responsibilities - it isn't your everyday job. Perhaps you don't like the idea of people being held accountable for their actions, but I do. Perhaps you don't think that fans who pay extortionate amounts of money to follow their team up and down the country should be allowed to voice their opinions, or even have dissenting ones, but I do. If the people who facilitate Samir Nasri's earning of tens of thousands of pounds a week become fed up with how he is treating the club that they help fund, then they have every right to let it be known whether you, Arsene Wenger or the board like it or not.

I'm starting to feel that Arsenal supporters are starting to become a bit of an inconvenience for Arsenal Football Club. That makes me sad.
Great post, and it's so true. Players want to be idolized on Twitter etc, but aren't willing to face the music when they act like... well, greedy c**ts.

What, did you think we were all going to be "Nanannaanasri!" when you've barely played this preseason and spent most of the summer talking up moves to United or City? Maybe you should go tweet your boyfriend @cuntfaceEvra and he'll make you feel better.
I do agree, but I think the point Demun was maybe trying to make, which I do agree with, is that people shouldn't just go around calling the bloke a c**t.

At the end of the day, we always seem to resort to all out abusiveness. I thought we had a little more class than that. Maybe I'm wrong.
I believe the overzealous abuse that Nasri and others have gotten is a result of frustrations with the team as a whole. I suppose the ultimate irony is that all Wenger's work to protect them and take the fall for them, has made us that much more scornful towards them.

I think every Gooner is just waiting for someone to man up, have a little loyalty to the club, admit we haven't done well lately, and get on with it. It's sad when the most likely candidate to do that is 19, and I don't just mean his squad number.

I get what you're saying, but you have to understand that many fans who pay a lot of money to watch this team feel that Samir Nasri, through the actions of him and has agent, has been calling them *word censored* - the only difference is in the way he's saying it - not what he's saying.

I'm yet to see anything positive come out of Twitter. It's been jumped on by loads of miserable frustrated toe rags who want to abuse people they've seen in the papers.

Jack Wilshere and Jack Marshall :?

We are jumping on Nasri because he has shown no respect to the club we love and which many of us would give up an awful lot to get the chance to run out into the Emirates with the cannon on our chest

Is this purely because he is yet to sign a contract? I feel like i'm missing something because Nasri hasn't appeared (I could be wrong) to come out and say anything about leaving. He's certainly not the first to do this.

How about the NOTW closing down? Or Ryan Giggs' illicit lies being revealed?

What the fans should have sung was:

Na, na-na, na-na-na-na na, na, na,
Samir Nasir
Loves money
Just a mercenary
