so where do we go from here?
As khalid and others suggested, was yesterday's result the reaction of alot of poor performances, personal incidents and problems within the club all coming out at once? And have we lost the title at st.adnrews? Manure looked extremely efficient at st.james park and certainly looked focused - they cant afford to drop any more points and perfectly capable of winning the rest of their run in with thier strenght in depth.
Or will the eduardo injury be used as a platform for the lads to group together and win the league for eddy. These young lads are experiencing a great deal of stress and anxiety for the first time in a premiership title run in so we'll see who has the composure and ability ot handle the situation.
Our result against villa next week may define our season......

I suspect we'll end up empty handed - again.
At the start of the season I was incredulous at Wenger's complacancy in terms of not making more signings. Above all we cried out for a mobile central defender and a goal scoring winger.
Riberary would have been ideal in the latter role. But Wenger sat on his hands. Now we've certainly done better in the League than I thought. But we're now neck deep in injuries with the business part of the season in hand and no options left.
What's worse is that next year we will require TWO defenders one defensive CM (make that two if Flamini goes) the same winger and one and maybe two strikers depending on what the prognosis is on RvP and Eduardo.
The bill for that little lot could hit £50 million which makes it odds on that Wenger won't even consider half of it.
In the meantime the Mancs will doubtless try to sign Berbatov and at least one of Lyons stars and we'll be stuck with another couple of 16 year olds from wherever. And people wonder why they beat us

Utd didn't look so efficient at home to Man City, or at Shite Hart Lane or at the fortresses that are the Reebok Stadium or Upton Park?!
Yes on their day they can be formidable just like us, but why do people have this impression that they're invincible and unstoppable?! I'll tell you why because you listen far too much to the twats on Match of the Day!!!
Utd have lost 4 league games this. We have lost just one. They were seconds away from defeat at Shite Hart Lane but for a flukey own goal which would have been their 4th away defeat of the season, 5th in total. They are also not unbeaten at home this season - we are.
Their goal difference is now 4 better than ours, but bare in mind they have a +10 goal difference against Newcastle alone which kind of helps things for them!!
It won't be easy if we're going to win the title but lets not kid ourselves that Utd are immune to slip ups .... despite all the millions they have spent.

why Dean left
Yo Rob ,
you are spot on Wenger did not just not buy this year Mans and Chelski, not to mention Villa, scum etc, strengthen every year yet we at best buy "underage unknown kids "for the future" whilst losing experienced players-DENNIS, ROBERT, FREDDY AND THIERRY
why is this Ribery is a good shout and he said he wanted to come but could Arsene claim to have "made" him
Dean knew we had to spend 50mill each year to compete- yeah mancs have lost 4 but its the draws that are hurting us brum home and away, toon away.etc and our rivals look fresher and we went to manure with 14 fit players
we made a profit doubled our ctowd yet still dont buy when we are the "brazil "of the prem -WHO WOULDNT COME!!!
rather we sell our favs and replace,,,
do the maths!!!

1) We are in a better position than anyone thought we would at the start of the season.
2) I agree with Justin, I still think we can do it...but....
Andy Grey said yesterday (god I never though I would say this) he might have a point. Whilst our youth is a benefit at times. Gallas is the only one in the team who knows what it is like to close out a champ plus look how Gallas reacted yesterday. Well played for careing that much, Ballacks for doing that though.
I do think we will still be in the mix but am not sure. I also agree that we may need to spend a little more in the future.
Finally every fan needs to step up to the plate and sing this great club to victory. Starting Villa! sing up for the Arsenal

Justin, what is your address? Because when Giggs lifts up the Premiership trophy, I am going to knock on your door, give you a smack and scream "You didn't predict this, did ya?"
Seriously though. I still think that Man Utd have something over us. Arsene Wenger needs to sort us out completely, physically and mentally. We are quite good at ruining things, remember the 3 competitions we went out of in the Unbeaten season in the space of 2 weeks. We need Van Persie back urgently, especially after Eduardo's injury. He is a great player and might give us that inspiration. One player doesn't make a team, but one player can add loads to a team, like Ronaldo does for Man Utd.

Missing the point
if we'd strengthened we would nt have had to :
a) sweat it
b) rely on Nik and Theo
we are a class apart really!!
but are only 3 points clear think about that we could should be 10 clear and unbeaten but first 11 way clear of reat of squad
by the way if Theo / Nik injured do we play Freeman?????????????????????????

Re: wide
The guy is only 15 so don't think we'll be seeing him this season. If we are short on strikers, I think we'll play 4-5-1. Anyway we aren't that short on strikers: Adebayor, Bendtner, Walcott and Van Persie to come back... Hopefullycpmarkw wrote:Missing the point

AGREE FABBY. THE THING IS WE KNOW VILLA WILL BE LOUD, SO IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE GOONERS RESPOND LIKEWISE.Fabby is a Foot (Leg-end) wrote:1) We are in a better position than anyone thought we would at the start of the season.

All good points boys (and girls ?
) and I'm not trying to be negative or to deny that we've done far better than I predicted, by about four league places.
The core of my point is simply this:-
Amongst the many reasons for moving to the 'Ems' was the call that we could and would, be able to match the Mancs and Real and Barca OFF THE PITCH.
Like most fans I accepted the price rises and the belt tightening as we moved from Highbury to the Ems. Fair enough we could not buy or even think about buying Rooney and others.
But we are now cash rich - and then some. For crying out loud! We make a shed load of money on transfers alone!!!
Then there is Sponsors money, CL money, the new TV deal, prize money for finishing third or fourth or whatever; and a massive dollop of money from the gate receipts - £3.2 million per game!!!
And we are still in the mindset of thinking that Luke Freeman and some 17 year old from Norway is the answer.
The Mancs will either sign Berbatov this summer or one of the Lyon stars.
Is anyone crazy enough to think that some teenage wonder from 'whereever' can possibly stack up against that?
I'm not asking for £20 million on one player but the idea that we can continue to compete whilst running the only negative nett spend in the top two divisions of English football ,is the equivalent of asking our players to perform on one leg.
Some modest but succinct investment in three or four quality players will turn 'also rans' into winners.
If we don't make that investment we will stay also rans - or less.
My real fear is that if we miss out narrowly - AGAIN, Wenger will delude himself into believing that more of the same is the answer and that luck will turn our way. It won't because the Mancs and others - including Spurs - will not be operating on a negative Nett spend.
Time for Wenger to realise that and in the coming closed season do what he did when he signed players like Petit and Overmars and made us Champions.

Firstly, all this "you can't predict a result" superstition voodoo is a load of bullshit. Just because somebody reckons we'll beat a certain team in a couple of weeks doesn't mean that it won't happen. So stop typing in all caps, and stop acting like a cock.
Secondly, Wenger should tell the team that the league this year consists of 11 games. Forget what's happened up until now - if we win 10 out of the remaining 11 games, the title is ours. There will probably never be a better time for the players to take advantage.
I remember people on here saying that 'if we can get through December and still be in the midst, then we're in with a shout'. Well, by my calendar, it's 24/02/08, and we're top of the league by three points. We've got six days to rest, and will probably beat Villa (so I made a prediction; come and rape me). Chances are that we're going to win the league.
Come on you reds!
