US MARTINS BOARD THREAD

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Usd to play football on the Leif Eriksson field in bay ridge 65th st just down the road from Bensonhurst . In the early 80's Bensonhurst was an old Italian district where to Old mama's lived and the poorer Italians.
There were a lot of Italian working mens club type things that did great Sunday dinners at that time.
The Russians where in Sheepshead bay at that time but I do know they have spread out .
I thought u lived in Red Hook ?
Nope. I only go to Red Hook for the Ikea there!

Bensonhurst is still pretty Italian, in truth. You've still got Lenny's and the old-style pizzerias but now most of the residential quarters are taken up by Russians (and a North Londoner )

It's always seemed a fairly decent place to live, however, it's an extremely racist neighbourhood. After the African American kid was murdered here by those three Italians in the late Eighties it's developed a reputation for not welcoming "people of colour"*.

*I should explain that, living in such a racist neighbbourhood wasn't my idea. It's where my in-laws live (they're Russian/American).

Bensonhurst !

Post by Herd »

The very ugly racist theme was long known in that neighborhood and stemmed from the fact that a lot of the Mob came from Bensonhurst . Long after they moved out themselves to Long Island Staten Island and New Joisey, their mothers and fathers often refused to do the same so they paid people to "look after" the place .
Cadlilacs with armed people used to sit at strategic points and if young blacks from the nearby projects drove anywhere near they were encouraged to leave.
Young Italians starting out used to buy the Houses as the old people died off but woe betide u if you sold out to the wrong people.
Kathy Renaldi and her husband Vinny went to sell their place to a Black couple and had a visit very quickly, the deal got cancelled and they sold it to the mob who put another young Italian American couple in there.
Had a very low crime rate in those days !

Subject: Funny how the Board stioll hasn't seen that

The real duiisgrace is we let the Board lie to us and put us this position to prserve the mythology of Arsenal FC.

Give me one genuine reason they either don't realize this are unable to do anything or about it or anything will change under a new manager.

Jerry Jones rebuilt the Dallas Cowboys within 72 hours of buying them/. What has Stan Kroenke done in four months now? And Jerry Jones wassn't on Dallasl's Board for the previous three years.

So why so far is all Stan Kroenke's Arsenal has done to change anything is raise the ticket prices and subscription fees?

Regards,
Martin

I have heard quite a lot about Jerry Jones, don't really know what he's got to do with Arsenal though.
