petition to ban taylor

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

shame thats the reality of this petition

i really hope the club and croatia can do something about it to make FIFA or the FA change their attitudes on such disgraceful tackles. They harp on about other crap ideas like the 39th game why dont they actually come up with something better like new rules to stamp out these kind of occurrences

they're just another bunch of kaaaantsss

I don't really have much to say on the matter, because I think that me voicing my opinion is just going to be an exercise in futility. However, look at this picture. Does this really look like someone who didn't intend to hurt Eduardo?

If your implying that he is smiling in that picture, i dont think he was. Thats more of a "Uh oh, im in trouble" look. I dont believe he was trying to break Eddie's leg, but i do believe he was trying to get stuck in to Eddie and show him hes the boss early in the game. And like I said earlier such tackles happens in almost all premier league matches and it was a matter of time a player got a career threatning injury cause of them. This goes beyond that crunt Taylor.

They happen in all Premier League games do they? Then why do none end like this? Cisse, Larsson, Busst - these were not the result of tackles - this is the first tackle I've seen do this (to my knowledge), and yet these kinds of tackles go in every week do they? Please, don't give me that. If this happened every week, you'd see a lot more of it. I've never seen this before. There is no defense for this thug. I hope he feels like shit. However, I get the feeling that he doesn't.

Oh, and that most certainly is a fucking smirk.

I agree TS, this was not a regular, hard challenge, it was more sinister than that.

But the main issue for me here is that, regardless of Taylor's malice and intent, referees need to get a grip on players who use over-physical tactics.

I don't think he was smiling either, I didn't think so at the time and I didn't see anything in any of the highlight programmes to change my mind, and not only that he actually wears a gormless grin normally!
Altho I am sickened and saddened by this I can't come to any other conclusion that this was a reckless rather than malicious tackle by a distinctly average and clumsy centre half who had been fired up by his manager only 5 mins earlier into conducting a physical approach to the game in order to knock us out of our stride!
Phil Thompson said on the GSS panel prior to the match "I'm not sayin that they are goin to kick Arsenal off the park but they are gonna play a physical game", but don't get me wrong bein reckless is in itself an offence just like it is on the street/road, and that's exactly why the ref sent him off even tho he wasn't goin to before he saw Dudu's leg cos he didn't really get a clear view of the tackle but he knows you don't do that to someone without bein reckless in the extreme, which is why those tackles were outlawed regardless of intent!
