I'm not fully convinced yet whether or not he's a strong enough attacker. but looks promising.

His forehead is immense

Not convinced.....? For me it's been quite the opposite. Two games in and the guy looks woeful.

He is so one footed I think we'll see him playing for his country in the London Paralympics 2012....

So far, and I will say that it still early day's for him in a new country and new league, all he has done is convinced me that he can run with his head down at pace   My concern though is that if you dont have the head up type of intelligence to look for your pass or cross then no matter how long you are in a league you just wont develop that aspect

I think we have to give him time, but if I'm being honest I see a typical Wenger signing of the last few years - pacy, tricky refusal to shoot and poor final ball! I think this is my first post on here btw so hello to all my fellow Gooners :D

He's been at the club for 5 minutes and people wanna slag him off already, what quality fans we have.

The guy played fantastic against Udinese and was one of the few positives to come out of the game.

Give him and bloody chance!

Yeah, I agreed with most of Chapman's first post to be fair, maybe see if he is any good at abusing AKBs or posting tits before forming a concrete opinion..,.

Seems to go past players with enough ease and gets in good positions just needs to find his feet and the sooner he gets his first competitive goal the quicker that will happen. Although i've already found myself screaming at him several times in the last 2 games to hit the fucking ball due to his reluctancty to shoot

Very true. You can normally tell if a player has what it takes or if he simply doesn't have the talent required after just a couple of games.

He reminds me a lot of Hleb..maye just quicker but not quite as good at holding the ball without actually getting anywhere.

People go on about Henry, Pires, Anelka and a few more taking time to settle in but you could see they had a lot of talent and just needed to get used to the pace and the physical side of the EPL. If a player has no timing or awareness, which Gervinho seem to lack, the chances that it will change are very slim..

Did he? Really...? There is far more to playing football than being able to run fast !

Don't say that, you might kill Walcotts confidence

No, there is a difference. I can't remember the last time I saw Walcott run fast....

Gervinho

Hello. Being half French, I regularly follow Ligue 1 (Marseille are my second team).

A year ago when we were linked with Chamakh, I laughed heartily because the guy is atrocious. I continue to hear nonsense about how he single-handedly took us top of the table last season and this is clearly bollox. Chamakh is an incredibly poor player and I called this before he joined Arsenal. Think about it: Chelsea and Liverpool both needed strikers, as did Spuds. This guy was free and yet the only other clubs to table concrete bids were Sunderland and West Ham?

The Bordeaux fans had a party when he left.

Now on to Gervinho. Again, in the Lille team of last season, if you asked a Lille fan who they would happily get rid of then it would be Gervinho.
The player to sign there is Eden Hazard, Ligue 1 player of the year, incredible pace and skill and superb vision.
Gervinho was desperate to join Arsenal: that should tell you everything you need to know about his level. Oxpot-Chamberlain and Jenkinson were also desperate to join (funny how Phil Jones wasn't eh?)

In Ligue 1 today, there were three top quality players who could improve a top Premier League team:

1. Eden Hazard
2. Hugo Lloris
3. Raphael Varane

Varane has now been snapped up by Real Madrid.

The rest are gash. Valbuena is average, Moussa Sow (who we are linked with) is appalling.

There is a reason Ferguson, Guardiola and top managers hardly do any shopping in Ligue 1. Because you end up with overpriced Koscielnys otherwise.
