So having claimed that he would only buy players of 'Super Quality' Wenger has said in his press conference today that 'Ox-Chamberlain, Jenkinson, Ryo and Gervinho are the aforementioned 'Super Quality'.

Despite what others have said about Wenger not signing anyone, I seriously didn't think he'd go into this season without at least 2 new and experienced players; 1 defender and either a forward or a midfielder. And this was before the Cesc and Nasri departures. Now it looks like we'll be lucky to get one more player.

it's unbelievable. i know it's quite absurd, but something inside me tells me we can't be that stupid and that we're signing 3 or 4 players in the last day.

Lassana Diara for £10m in a position we badly need quality in. At 26 this lad is heading into his prime and would slot into our team quite wel. I know we had him before and sold him on but he was excellent at Pompey and from what I saw of him in La Liga is VERY strong for a small player.

I mean come on- could he do a worse job than Song?

exactly, flash. it was simply inconceivable for me that a man of wenger's intelligence and experience (you don't manage The Arsenal for 15 years just 'cause you're a nice person) could not realize that manuel almunia is nowhere near good enough to be our goalkeeper. the goalkeeping situation was ridiculous and the blame was all on him.

but this now is beyond that. he hasn't fucked the goalkeeping position up, he fucked the whole team. our shit defence has been weakened with our most experienced defender going to city, we lost our captain and best player and he says he bought four splendid players in this window - one was playing conference football 6 months ago, the other is an 18yo who only played professional football in costa rica and the other one was playing school level football less than a year ago.

how can someone go from absolute genius to pathetic fool is beyond me.

I can't understand why Madrid are letting him go tbh, because when i saw him play for them last season he looked like the best of their ballwinners...If it's right and Spurs are getting him for £10m it's a good bit of business, but far too obvious a deal for a genius like Wenger to waste his time with....

The thing is it sounds like he hasn't even gone for crazy money, 22m which is roughly the level at which we were being linked with him. Meanwhile we're about to let Nasri get a game. Are Gervinho, AOC, Jenkinson and Ryo really "super super quality" and I'm just too uneducated to see it? Now I'm hearing Mata on his way to the Chavs for €26m.
