One positive from today

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Be fair, they dug in for 79 mins, granted it wasn't pretty but we haven't seen enough of that recently, that is a positive to me.

A pointless sending off changed the game, granted we got severe problems but they made a fight of it with a really weak team.

Wenger doesn't see the value of a Captain. He gave it to Cesc just to keep him happy - which didn't work - and now RVP. An excuse to stick an extra few ££ on his pay.....

It should be Vermalen and anyone who can't see that must have Wengeritus!

I actually think there were quite a few positives from today. First it highlighted how light the squad is to the manager.

As you said vermaelen was great today, and probably put one of his best performances in a gooner shirt in. He wanted to prove a point and was really up for it.

Jenkinson, again didnt look out of his depth and seemed up to the challenge on the whole.

Frimpong, he should have been taken off, looks a live wire, but to be honest love it. He was brilliant and just what we need in the holding role, a fucking nutter. If this lad learns how to hold out on the tackle when necessary he'll be very good. Id throw him in over song after his ban.

Sczezney again was very good, Number 1 without doubt. And a star of the future.

Miquel apart from the own goal didnt seem overwhelmed, and looked good.

Fact is until we went down to 10men we were well in the game, and yes we did have bad luck. But wenger has to see and act quick of I fear its gunna be a tough season.

Speaks volumes. Personally I want my Arsenal team to be a bit more than that. Where was the creativity? We're sounding like Everton/Villa supporters, pleased we gave a battling display to match one of the bigger clubs over 90 mins.

We're going backwards, end of :banghead:

Not got a clue, but i'm sure RVP will pick up a six month injury in the next few weeks so TV5 will take over as Skipper.

Wenger HAS to make Van Persie captain.

Wenger uses the captaincy to keep his star players happy; that's why Henry was captain, that's why Gallas was captain, that's why Cesc was captain and that's why Van Persie (who must be considering his future) is captain now.

And, of course, it's why Nasri was given the armband in the Emirates cup.

Anyway, Wenger has 11 captains out there, so it's no big deal.

Another positive is that with Fulham losing 2-0 at Wolves we have moved up to 14th in the table!
