Apparently we bid 6mil for Cahill

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Pretty much like how we justify £20+ for Nasri, also in his last year.
Erm they bid that amount, as they knew we'ld sell him for that price.

Oh of course. They have a need for this type of player, they bid according to what it takes to get this player, and hey bingo, job done. This for them may make the difference between being runners up and winning the title.

Us... well, we fanny around despite having a much more serious & urgent need to strengthen, despite having the money, push it to the last day to save a couple of mill, drop 8 out of 9 points in the process which could make the difference of finishing 4th or 6th - with the loss of £20m+ UEFA money. Fcuking great hey?!

And in amongst all this dilly dallying, the likes of Chelsea/Spurs come in and snatch the player, and Wenger/Gazidis sit proud with the savings they have made... for now

Agree. Id feel a lot more confident with this lineup.

But, if we can, Id like to replace Song with A.N.Other... as much as he has improved, he will always be a weak link.

All I can possibly say is what a joke if £6 million is the figure offered.

I am not saying we should pay over the odds for someone because of our situation but I do think we should at least try not to make ourselves look stupid!

same old wenger, will not change!!!....he has no intention of buying anyone, especially if its being pressured by fans, who he does'nt give a flying fuck about, he's content with everything he does, he's an egomaniac, don't you know.... makes a paltry bid which has no chance, how many times has this happened in the last 6 years???....we have money, wenger won't spend it, we have a fucking bizarre bloke in charge of everything

Can you imagine firstly being told by Arsene to make a bid for Cahil for £6M

"Certainly Arsene, £16M"
"Nope I zaid £6!"
"Oh errr errrmm Okay." :?

And then to make the actual call.

"Hello Phil"
'
Ello!"

"It's Arsenal Football club we like to make you an offer for Gary Cahill for £6m."

"T'sorry did you say 6 or 16 million?"

"I said 6" [holds phone away from ear]

"x#@'!$£%^ &*"£*^ $£$%^£$^""$^%£%£..........."

"I take that as a no"

But what did he expect? They were never selling him for 6?

Why would Cahill want to come now?
