Apparently we bid 6mil for Cahill

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You know if this was a one off i would think yea no problem lets try and get him on the cheap...but it's not, this is why we are 4 or 5 players short of a challenging team, because this is how we go about recruiting, or more to the point not recruiting...At a time when Wenger should be doing everything he can to make sure we get the players we need, this is how we are still doing business, in this half hearted joke of a way...

I'm glad that this guy has made it public what our offer was, because now there can be no mistake why we don't get the players we need or that we are supposedly after, it's because these are the kind of insulting bids we put in for players...
And it's alright saying 'oh but there were add ons', wow, great that makes all the difference...
We are sitting with more money in the bank than Bolton are worth and everybody knows it, and here we are trying to get probably their biggest asset for a pittance and wanting to do it in installments ... I'll bet they were well impressed, they must have been looking round for the cameras thinking they were on some sort of prank show...

And what makes it even worse is it's taken us 2 months to get this bid in and even though we are desperate this is all we could come up with...I'm surprised we didn't ask them to pay us to take their biggest asset and a player they don't want to lose, off their hands...

I've said it before and i think it is definitely the case, Wenger decides how much he will pay for a player and that will always be well below the market value..Then we put the offer in in hope that the selling club are so desperate they will sell or that the player is so desperate to come to us he will force a move at that lower rate, pretty much what happened with Cesc....And if neither happens we just don't bother, no big deal, he just carries on with what he's got regardless of how desperate we were and another chunk of money goes unspent...

This shit has got to stop, strengthening the team has got to start coming before this guys obsessive penny pinching, hopefully this joke of an offer being made public, will embarrass him in to showing he is serious about buying the players we need, although i doubt it

We accepted 7m for Clichy who has got a lot more big games under his belt than Cahill and is mich younger. Both players were similar position contract wise.

Anything over 10m for Cahill is a piss take.
Why are we comparing with a left back? In general, centre backs cost more than full backs.

Just got back from holiday so I haven't read the whole thread, but this is what I've said before about Wenger, he puts these derisory bids in on purpose, he is also a liar, he doesn't want to sign these players but puts spurious low bids in to somehow prove that he is actually busy in the transfer market, but he's not. He's got plenty of previous for doing this also.

I also saw him quoted about moaning about having to let players go on a free once their contract had run out, I can't remember where I saw it, but he didn't moan when he did exactly the same thing with 'buying' Chamakh, his whole transfer policy with selling players and buying players (well, putting shit bids in) is flawed and has been ever since Dein left the club.

Agreed mate. Wenger is a f**kin' hypocrite - he whinged like mad when Barca put in a low bid for Cesc but he does the same over and over again. (Mark Schwartzer???? Xabi Alonso????)

If we miss out on Cahill due to penny pinching (or any other centre halves) I'm gonna wait outside the players' entrance at the Swansea game and stick a red hot poker up Wenger's arse . . . . :banghead: :banghead:

Will he use his Jageilka like tactic now and go in with a bid of £5 million?

Now that would make good TV. I'll bloody do it though - f**k knows how I'll warm the poker up but I'll do it and I won't stop til it's way up past his sphincter!! That'll loosen him up - the tight bastard!

Confirmed he's in the squad but on the bench, not in the XI.

That is a good sign.

No way they would have left him out without good reason!
