on planning for reinforcements…
I am very open if we can find the right players. We have the money to sign players. If we find players who can strengthen our team then we will do it. But I am not the only one to work on the case, we have 20 people who are working on that. If we do not do it, it is because we don’t find them. We have plenty of players out today, too many players missing. We do not have the squad to compete when we have this many players out. At the moment, we have not found the solutions to our problems outside. When you look at today, you cannot predict how many players we have out. We did not expect to have Wilshere out, Diaby out, Gervinho out, Vermaelen out and Gibbs out

on whether he is close to bringing anyone in…
We are close to signing a striker at the moment but we are still looking for a midfielder and a defender.

I think there is no alternative now but the sack...so many of us could see it coming but what a shame it had to all end like this.

I want him gone but the big problem we have is we will have to appoint a new manager before the transfer window closes on weds in time for him to get in new players and time is something we dont have.

Mate, I think you're being quite harsh on those mid 70s/early 80s teams  Give me Terry Mancini and Colin Hill over our current defense any day :? Fuck me dead, never thought I'd be saying that

Diaby constantly injured. Vermaelen missed 95% of last season injured. Gibbs constantly injured throughout his career. Who could predict the 3 of them could be injured eh arsene ?

The mind-boggling post-match comments weren't just limited to the Geoff Shreeves interview. How about this gem from Arsenal.com:
Wenger points out that he has been under pressure to strengthen certain areas of his squad before and has gone against the common consensus - with excellent results.

"Think about the goalkeeping situation for example, where everybody pushed us to buy a player," he said. "Today that situation has changed [with the emergence of Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski].
And how many calamitous goalkeeping errors, dropped points and cup eliminations did we have to witness before Szczesny was appointed number one? I'd say at least four years' worth, from the time Lehmann was replaced in 2007.

The goalkeeping situation was an utter mess for years and cost us dearly. For AW to try taking the moral high-ground over this is another sign that he is totally deluded.

Possible solution ?

Get Moyes (not that I am his greatest fan)

get him to bring in Baines, Jagielka, Arteta and Fellani and we instantly have a team with some defensive nous.

Never gonna happen of course.......

Arsene simply cannot accept

that his 4-3-3 doesn't work, that it is easily dealt with by teams who can defend and keep their shape well and get the midfield back to create an 8 man defence that is difficult for 3 / 4 players to get through.

That having no defensive stratagy is suicide...... we will not outscore other teams every game

That a large percentage of the youngsters he has signed have not / will not turn into the superstars of old like Vieira, Anelka et al

I can take a defeat. I can take the fact that we had a weakened side. But I cannot take the abject and utterly inept way the available players were organised and coached. Two inexperience midfielders in front of a shambolically organised back four. With four forward going players who have no idea how to help the midfield or defence. Whose fault is that? No strategy, no tactics. Even Wenger has in the past has realised that the midfield has to be filled and organised to stifle a passing team like MU. But here, he didn't even try, it is like a general in the first WW telling the rookies just to go over the top and do their best against the superior German guns and army. God knows what effect this is having on the young lads who are nowhere near ready for this kind of fixture. It is grossly irresponsible to have got to the position where they have to be played Is Wenger trying to sefl-destruct? Sure looks like it. He has to carry the can, I don't want to hear a single feeble excuse from him - this squad is the direct result of his policies. And did you see Nasri today? See how good he is playing with players of similar calibre - that is what he and Fabregas deserved but never got - just imagine how good we could have been if they had. Why weren't in for the likes of Aguero, instead of teenagers from lower leagues? AW is finished, it's just a matter of time. But this season will bury his reputation.

All these comments only go to emphasize that the majority of the blame lies with Wenger.
What a farce.

the disgraceful thing is hes pretending the problem doesn't exist. we've lost our opening 3 games by a 10-2 aggregate score for fucks sake . it literally beggers belief this man is the same who guided us through an unbeaten season in '04. :banghead:
