As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Gave up but still go mostly to away games particularly those in Europe when i get chance and can afford it. Suffered through the 70s when we were truly awful at times but best ever game THFC away league cup 1987 (those that were there (both times) will know what it meant to win after the years before). Still love AFC but after today feel really angry hence the rant. Apologies for battering on I guess we all feel the same.
Do not apologise my friend
Well said can't argue with anything
I was there too in 87 what a night!
Disgrace tonite! We want our arsenal back!
The problem is that Arsenal doesn't exist anymore!

Fair doos! Apologies
Just got the ump for obvious reasons!

Just cheered me up with the whl 87 memories mate. If I went as mental now at the age 0f 52 as I did in the middle of the park lane end when Rocky stuck the winner in the net that night I'd probably give meself some kind of funny turn To this day I'm still laughing at the half time announcements from their tannoy geezer at half time on the sunday game, priceless
Thanks - I think the real point is we can't continually rely on cut-price transfer bargains. To be fair I remember Wenger buying Hoddle and Hateley (age!) when he was on Monaco. He wasn't a manager who was afraid to splash the cash. Now he seems to be reluctant to spend anything significant. Are they hiding behind wage demands? City will offer silly money (and wages) but if we're going to compete we at least need to have some sort of salary structure that is at least in line with the other top clubs if not at the City limits.
Welcome to the Forum, and you will find that there has been keen discussion over the last 18 months whether the manager, board, or both, are to blame for our poor form.
Charlie George - memories of that night in the Park Lane will say with me forever. That and working down the Tottenham High Road afterwards towards Seven Sisters. The Sunday was also brilliant to come from two goals down. Tell the kids about it but it just isn't the same anymore and with today's saniitised stadiums they'll never experience anything like that night. THey ask about Anfield 89 (I had a season tocket but didn't go). However, WHL 87 after so many years of failure broke that cycle (remember Villa previous season?) and got us back on track. That and the atmosphere that night (and it those days we didn't get run by THFC) made it for me.

Never forget swaggering back up the seven sisters rd that night, along with about 20,000 other Arsenal Remember drinking in the corner pin that night too, Arsenal all over the place. Much the same as my first visits there in the early 70s, all Arsenal, inside and outside the ground then they had their time for a fair few years from the mid 7os on. The passion and atmosphere of those nights and those eras will never be repaeted, that's why it's so depressing nowadays. Still got me season ticket at the spacebowl but it's becoming less and less of a pleasure with each passing year.
I have to say I admire those including your good self who've managed to keep going over all those years. I still miss it but simply can't go to all the games.
Wenger has made a rod for his own back. He delivered teams playing great football but hasn't - for whatever reason - been able to maintain the momentum. Whilst cursing the world after today I'm still wondering whether it's his stubborness in not buying real quality or the board's in not sanctioning the wages.
My greatest fear in life is that I die before we win a Champions league (I'm 50 and apart from ' 72 (should have beaten Ajax) the year we let the Chavs turn us over 2005? and 2006 we haven't come close. Chelsea winning it before us is unthinkable. But not it seems to the Board. We are, and always have been the biggest club in London, we need to start acting like it.
We as supporters could see this thrashing coming. I'm glad (bollocks am I) it has, because it cannot be brushed under the carpet (but it will be). Our already patchy team has been weakened by events with no apparent plan to address this since before Jan 2010
Like you, I would like to know WHAT is wrong (as in at management level, not on the pitch). It is obvious, something is seriously, seriously wrong. I am almost beginning to suspect some sort of financial issue.
