Seriously if benayoun is the best we can expect with a 60m+ transfer budget then I really do give up  It is one thing saying that signing him is a better move than some shite dickhead with no guts from france (a point I agree with btw) but surely with the transfer kitty we have at our disposal signing arteta and parker would be better options and financially viable ? I can assure you that with a transfer kitty like that I could sign at least 6 better players than the short arsed floppy haired *word censored*

need some hardmen in the team, Marco Materrazi is a free agent, also Genaro Gattuso is getting on a bit but will add some steel to the melting midfield

It's quite clear that Wenger is now in panic-buying mode. He has sat back all Summer as smug as a Cheshire cat thinking that Clubs would fold and sell us their players. Now that we are in crisis, the price has just gone up massively as they know we're desperate.

We could sign anybody in the next few days, and I mean anybody!

Heskey, Sol Campbell, Peter Crouch...... Wenger has lost the plot.

If the fabled scouting network and the 20 or so people that we are told work on transfers can only come up with a previously relegated South Korean and couple of players that Chelsea don't want, then something is going terribly wrong at the club and heads need to roll. This is quite simply, pathetic.

He is a desperate man if this rumour is true.

He could actually make himself look even worse over the next couple of days which I thought was impossible.

Here we are, flush with cash and stll he is scraping around picking up shite when he talks of 'super quality' signings.

Complete plank........... go on, carrying on hanging yourself.

Yea Benayoun's right up Wengers street...lightweight creative player who doesn't really fit in to a particular position, not really a wideman, not really a cm, not really a forward and of course cheap...
A few seasons ago he would have been a decent squad player for us, sadly now, Wenger would probably see him as the ''super quality'' we need to replace Cesc...

Looking at the players who we are been linked with the last few days the one thing they all seem to have in common is they are all ''super cheap'' as opposed to ''super quality''... 3m for the Korean, offering 6m for Cahill, Benayoun would be less than 10m...

After it being made very obvious how desperate for some quality we are after our collapse last season and now our abysmal opening to this season.. Plus all the claims of only being interested in signing quality or better than we already have...plus the loss of our 2 best players...
Still, after raking in another 50 million plus, to add to the mass of cash we have, his main concern above all else is to spend as little as possible...Honestly if he can't see even now that there is some serious investment needed, he's a lost cause :x :x :suicide:

I am 100% sure now that the money isn't there and all our incomings are going into another pot!

Benayoun is a good creative player with plenty of Premiership experience, able to play wide midfield or just off a striker.

He would likely be a regular substitute rather than a starter, and I would welcome him as one of amongst a batch of signings to strengthen the squad, especially with Joel Campbell being denied a work permit.
His experience could be useful in guiding Oxlade-Chamberlain, Afobe, Miyaichi and Aneke with a bit of attacking trickery and positioning.

As has been mentioned, he is not a physically imposing player and has just come back from injury, so I would expect/hope for a low transfer fee.

But surely the priority should be on quality regular starters at left back, centre back and central midfield?

Vertonghen/Baines? Cahill? Arteta?

Benayoun makes perfect sense. Decent enough player for a cut price. It's got 'Wenger signing' written all over it.

This would be a really good signing if I thought he was being signed merely as a squad player and not as the replacement for Cesc. However, I fear that he is intended as Cesc's replacement

We're apparently in for a Brazilian Left-Back from Fenerbahce.

Also have heard the Midfielder we are in for is Goetze of Borussia Dortmund.

Goetze would be a super signing. No idea if Santos is any good.
