As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
if it was cashly cole or ronaldo that had his leg broke at the weekend instead of eddie would you all still be on about life bans etc
and what if it was gael, sagna etc that made the tackle
I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE CALLS FOR A LIFE BAN WERE EXCESSIVE. HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE TO THINK I WOULD FEEL THE SAME WAY REGARDLESS OF WHO THE VICTIM OR PERPETRATOR WERE.
I'M A FOOTBALL FAN FIRST AND FOREMOST, WHO HAPPENS TO HAVE THE GOOD FORTUNE OF HAVING HAD ARSENAL AS MY LOCAL TEAM WHEN GROWING UP. I HOPE THAT ALLOWS ME NOT TO BLINDED BY ANY BIAS AND ENABLES ME TO JUDGE THINGS ON THEIR OWN MERIT, ALTHOUGH ADMITTEDLY THAT ISN'T ALWAYS POSSIBLE.
i come up with a post after my manc and spud mate made a comment saying it was a great tackle saying that i wanted it to happen to berbs ronaldo keane and rooney, but i was pissed off and upset.....to tell the truth i wouldnt wish it on any1
am i the only one who would kinda like this to happen to cole,i wouldnt wish it on rooney or ronaldo, just cole, that is the hate that i have for that money grabbing mobile phone loving self obseesed arrogant cocky judas *word censored*
Even for Cole or Ronaldo, I would want the same long ban I think Taylor should get (but won't).
Something like a 12-month ban would be about right. 9 months for Ferdinand missing a drug test, and whatever Cantona got for attacking a fan would be a good benchmark.
But I forgot, the real victim in all this is Tiny Taylor, that honest to god purveyor of all things decent on a football pitch. He was after all just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
First up - I have not called for any 'life ban' or similar and on reflection neither did Wenger.
Secondly, I don't want to see anyone get hurt badly on or off the pitch.
My ire in all this is as follows :-
Aside from immense sympathy to Eduardo (I broke my leg playing the game when I was the identicle age to him, so I really do know what it's like!!) my anger is not directed at Taylor - whom I believe has sincerely apologised. That being so - case closed on him.
But I am livid at - in no particular order :-
Ex Manc cretin and serial mangerial failure Steve Bruce for saying that it was probably not even a yellow card (SIC).
Obnoxious little cretin Seb Larson for insulting Wenger for what the latter said.
Stephen Kelly, ex Spud moron - ditto.
The media 'en masse' who view the injury to an Arsenal player as no real concern but who would be in hysteria if any of our players inflicted similar on anyone else.
Alec McCleish who feels that his club and player are the real 'victims' in all this - their relegation will cause me no little joy.
Assorted other north country gentelmen - Allardyce, Hughes, Ferguson - who although not overtly celeberating, laid the groundwork for all of this to happily take place.
I didn't call for a life-ban in the first place. I think a long ban should be given though. If it was Flamini who has a tendency to be a hard-tackler, I wouldn't want him to get a ban obviously but a long ban would be fair. Anyway, people that said life-ban were just pissed off after the match like Wenger was. By the way, if it was Eboue who broke someone's leg, I'd protest in the Soho Square for a life-ban

Leave Eboue alone, I'm tired of being the one to stick up for him.
