What you forget is that Mertesecker is a LEADER a CAPTAIN and one respected in Germany at the highest levels. You don't play 75 times for Germany in the heart of a disciplined defence and be a shrinking violet. We are crying out for leaders....this one is just that.

But it would be even better if we were being linked with 'top quality' players as Wenger claimed. The guy from South Korea, who's name I can't even remember, hardly falls into that category. These players are another demonstration of the fact that Wenger is no longer fit to manage our Club.

I think it will be left to clubs to fight over his signature in 6 months time.

Bolton really should be looking at recouping on him before losing out.
