McLintock and GG...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Not really. And he was treated shit by the board especially given certain members of it were also seemingly involved.

I love George, best time to be a Gooner when he was in charge IMO. Never forget Copenhagen

Call me naive but I have never quite bought into the "stealing" label put on this saga. My understanding was that hauge was told a price that the selling club wanted and that he could negotiate on their behalf and he would get a % of whatever transfer fee they got above that so when we bought the player, they got their fee, hauge got his and then he in turn gave GG a kickback for that deal. If hauge had not done that would GG been screwing his own club ? Did GG know about hauge's deal with the selling club ? The FA investigation found that GG had def wanted to buy the player and had scouted him for a long time prior to buying him and there was no suggestion that he bought him on the basis of receiving a kickback so what did GG do wrong ? Doesnt that practice occur in most businesses in the world even to this day ?

Indeed, I wouldn't call it stealing from the club at all.

My understanding is we played Brondby in the European Cup. The Transfer fee of Jensen was brought up. Im guessing figures here but it was along the lines of Arsenal paid £2.5 million Brondby received £2.3 million which meant £200,000 had gone missing. That money was given to George as a sweetener which neither Brondby or Arsenal knew about. Therefore effectively stealing money from the club...

I love George Graham for the times i had in my younger days following Arsenal all over the country and Europe but there is no getting away from what he did

My ma always said "You can trust a theif, but you cant trust a liar"

GG may be a thief, but that *word censored* Wenger is a lying bastard.

Bring back GG NOW as caretaker, thats my vote
