Samuel Eto'o?
Samuel Eto'o?
Just seen Guillem Balague on Revista say that Rijkaard would be happy to sell Eto'o. Could we? Or would he end up at fucking Chelsea?

If he costs more than a tenner then forget it. He'll be at chelsea. Even if the boss wanted him we could never get him. Lets say we agree a £20m fee for him, they'll just up the ante and outbid us.
Arsenal supporters need to forget the possibility of signing a big name player unless they have specifically stated they want to play for us. As soon as the bidding war starts we pull out.
If I was on the board I would keep outbidding Chelsea/Manure even if I knew I couldn't afford the player. Once I had won the bidding war I would withdraw and let them buy the player at a hugely inflated price.

Would love to see eto join us and his pace would be ideal for cesc's passing skills. Why couldnt we afford him ? Surely the 100m we get from one of ade's many admirers will cover his fee
Still think if we are serious about dominating both domestically and in europe we need to buy a quality player like eto because not only would he increase the quality of the team hugely but also send out a message of intent to all our rivals and we all know how important intent is at the moment dont we

See, this is the stuff we agree on!augie wrote:Would love to see eto join us and his pace would be ideal for cesc's passing skills. Why couldnt we afford him ? Surely the 100m we get from one of ade's many admirers will cover his fee![]()

My head says Wenger wouldn't do it, despite the fact he's paid over the market odds before (Wiltord is the one who comes to mind). But I have the feeling that at some point Wenger will shock all of us and make a big-name signing. And Eto'o would be the perfect one - a front line next season of Ade, RvP (if he ever gets fit), Eto'o, Dudu (if and when he's back) plus Bendtner if he's still around and Walcott (if he can prove himself). That would do me.

A very good player but his attitude and transfer fee will be a problem. He can start acting like Berbatov when things don't go his way, and sulk. Money, we have it but I can't see Arsene Wenger touching it like many Arsenal fans. I think he would make a good partnership with Adebayor but I can't see us buying him.

We could have done it for Anelka in the January transfer window. Making Chelski pay 20 million for him but no. We just sat there in January buying no-one, doing nothingSPUDMASHER wrote:If I was on the board I would keep outbidding Chelsea/Manure even if I knew I couldn't afford the player. It's never gonna happen.
I'll tell you what. If Arsenal ever make a truly top class signing whilst Wenger is in charge, I will walk from Finsbury park to AG with my knob hanging out wearing a spuds shirt with 'kick my balls' written on the back.
To clarify:- By top class I mean a player that is at the top of their game, an established big name and sought after by a few big clubs.
