As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Please mate, i am excited by the signing of Santos, but you seem to want to hammer him because you have seen him play......can we not judge him ourselves???

I'm sure if he was of the quality of those 2 he would never have played 70+ games for Germany. Proven international quality at centre-back, the only shame is it is several years too late.

When they are both at the top end of the pitch and the opposition break on us, it'll be Song and Mertesaker both being one paced left at the back trying to stem the tide?
I would assume in those games, it'll be Vermaelen/Koscielny in the centre.
I love him already, but I have trouble seeing him adapting to our style of play.
I really hope we dont persist with this stupid high line of defence, because it leaves us so vulnerable and I feel Vermaelen and Mertesacker would struggle if we continue in that way.
The one thign we might get Irish is someone who might actually change the way we play. By signing him Wenger has obviously noted the problem. Perhaps big Per can also influence the style. He's experienced enough to organise it in his image
