And even if Real Madrid did accept, there's no saying Benzema would have come to Arsenal.

Also, various sources said we did bid big for Hazard but Lille are unwilling to sell at the moment. They suggest Arsenal will be back for him in January, in which case it makes sense not to just blow the whole budget on someone else just for the sake of it.
The feeling is though that we don't do enough...half-hearted if you like.

Borne out by this transfer window.
But again there is no real proof of that if you think about it.
We are going by on is being said in the media and to me it's a lof of toss.

Wow Yossi is the Israel captain.
Choo Young is the Korea captain.
Calling people captains instantly makes them sound better doesn't it!

I suggest we therefore sign the following too:

The San Marino captain
The Malta captain
The Azerbaijan captain
The Nepal captain
The Benin Captain
The Togo captain (he'll even speak French!)

They must all be quality since they are captains!

And Benayoun WOW. Amazing signing! Chelski must be gutted to be losing him, ah well I'm sure they'll go to bed at night consoling themselves they got a massive transfer fee for such a great player, and safe in the knowledge that they didn't have to just loan him out to a non-threatening smaller club as no serious big club would be mad enough to sign him for a proper fee and pay his wages.

Just like Denilson.

Ok here we go. Remember, that none of the signings I am about to mention are Galacticos apart from Goetze so, bare in mind Wenger had a trasnfer budget of £40 million, plus the £75 million in transfer fees recouped, plus the £40 million Toure + Greedy transfer facility.

And bare in mind he made a £25 million profit.

Here goes. Scrap all the players we signed bar Mertesacker.

1. Yann M'Vila. (trying to sign him about two months ago instead of waiting until Rennes didn't have time for a replacement mighta been a good idea). 18 million quid Rennes quoted.

2. Nilmar. Quality striker. International with a proper country. Performed in Europe and a top league. Again, coulda been had for £18 mil. (Remember, Roma failed with their £15 mil bid cos Villareal held out for £18 mil). The alternative was to offer Real Madrid the £20 million for Higuain, who Perez wants to sell.

3. Gary Cahill for £15 mil. Or Phil Jagielka for the same price if Bolton wouldn't budge on the £15 mil.

4. Juan Mata. Let nobody give me bollocks about being outpriced by Chelski. More AKB guff. A fee was agreed with Valencia for £19 million. Arsenal pulled out of the deal and his buy-out clause expired. Only then, afterwards, did Chelski pick up the scent and sign him up. £19 million.

5. Per Mertesacker. Keep that signing. £8 mil.

Now. The total outlay there for all of the aforementioned players is of £78 million. Remember, that Wenger sold for about almost £75 mil and had a transfer warchest of £40 mil also.

So even if we wanna go into tight-arse Wenger Land, the total fees for players signed just mentioned would have seen Wenger make a net spend of just £3 million! Now that still isn't acceptable to me but at least the Arsenal side would have been backed up by numbers AND quality.

The spine of the team would have been immediately addressed: Jagielka-M'Vila-Nilmar. Then there would have been an extra signing to truly get Arsenal fans off their feet in Mata.

After all these signings, Wenger would have STILL had his £40 million transfer warchest more or less untouched, meaning a mammoth bid for Maerio Goetze could have been made at least ONE MONTH AGO. Whereby Dortmund - who are in the same CL group as Arsenal remember - would have had plenty of time to find a replacement. It's ridiculous to make bids for clubs' best players at the 11th hour and expect them to sell.

No. The only players you end up with when you do that are Yossi Benayoun and a knackered Mike Arteta!!!

Whoever said Wenger was like Redknapp with an Economics degree is bang on. The guy is an absolute clown with no plan! I mean after his frankly embarrassing bid to bring Lucho Gonzales on loan (I thought Benayoun was so great?) we now hear the following
_____________________________________________
'The Frenchman was just one of the players chased by the Gunners in the final days of the transfer window as Arsenal searched for a big name to replace Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.

Arsenal eventually signed Mikel Arteta from Everton for £10m and Yossi Benayoun on loan from Chelsea.

Aulas told RMC Sport: "I got a call on the penultimate day of the transfer window from Gilles Grimandi asking for a loan.

"We believe in re-establishing Yoann. He has been operated upon. He has just resumed training.

"We have chosen Gourcuff, like last year. It was hard last season. Hopefully he will demonstrate his capabilities this term."

Gourcuff scored three goals in 27 Ligue One appearances last season for Lyon but is currently ruled out through injury.
_______________________________________

So just to recap.

Bid massive for Goetze not in time. FAIL.
Errrrm...ok let's pester Marseille for a past-it Lucho Gonzales on loan. FAIL.
Oh ok. I'll go for Gourcuff on loan instead. FAIL.
I will offer Leverkusen money for Augusto. FAIL.
Oh shit shit shit shit....zis is not goood I neeed the qualiteee....

Ok it is 10.30 pm and no creative midfielders left....let me see what is in ze bargain basement discount shop.

Oh look. Yossi Benayoun. Yes please!
Oh look Arteta's knee is knackered but cheap at £10 mil and he will take a pay cut. Yes please!

GREAT PLANNING ARSENE!

Mug....

As underwhelmed as I am with most of the signings, bottom line is that I believe Arteta and Benayoun are considerably better than Diaby, Rosicky, Arshavin and Ramsey. Therefore I believe they WILL improve us by a fair amount and if they keep most of those guys out of the first team then I will be very happy.

What others have said is spot on. We are no longer part of the 'big 4' because it has become the 'big 3'.
We are now part of the next tier of clubs who will have to pick their players from a different pool because we cannot offer what the big boys can. Sad though it is, we have to accept it until Kroenke fooks off and Usmanov takes over.

'Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has spoken of his 'suffering' at seeing the Gunners thrashed 8-2 at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard, who joined Barcelona last month, said: "I watched the match against Manchester United on television and it was difficult.

"I suffered during this match and especially because of the enormous rivalry between the clubs.

"But I am convinced that the squad will improve for the next matches.

"I will always have important feelings with the Gunners. I am a fan through the good and bad moments."

Fabregas also paid tribute once again to Arsenal boss Wenger, saying: "I hope that I can transfer the lessons Wenger has taught me to my new work at Barca. I will always be grateful to the coach."
______________

Yeah Cesc, bet he was suffering in the warm sunshine as he laughed hsi arse off at that absolute car crash of a comedy show!
I'm pretty sure he will take the tactical lessons Wenger taught him too: never trust a manager who doesn't study the opposition.

Overall satisfaction with transfer dealings: 8/10.

Transfers added experience(!) and gave us some versatility. Hopefully Wenger doesn't start fucking around and playing JYP or Yossi on the wing or some shit. Arteta is a major talent, who is underrated; hopefully he stays healthy. Mertesacker is an industrious, massive German, who should partner very well with Vermaelen. I also can't see Merte' letting Koscielny get away with fucking around (since when have Germans ever been easy on the French? :P )

Happy that Bendtner has found a club that will give him some consistent playtime; I have some faith in that affable Danish retard.

Baba - but maybe some of those players didn't want to come to Arsenal!
Mata for instance said he didn't want to join us....no surprise really.
Because we are not successful, the only way we will attract top top quality players now is to pay well over the top for them (transfer and wages) and that won't happen under Wenger and our board.
