Its very easy to play football manager when you don't know what is really happening at the club.
AW has done miracles with this club, the fact we are still even 'challenging' for trophies when we could have easily been a leeds, newcastle or god help us a spurs.

With all the money being pumped in; we are living in an unprecedented era of football. Our player cost (wages and depreciation) are about 60% of our current competitors, yet we remain competitive.
Yes a few players have been mentioned that we could have signed, but even these players won't make us title challengers. We are currently feeling the effects of cups being bought in that some people will lose out.

We can never compete in this situation, either we get a sugar daddy or we try to remain stable for as long as stable until we are in a better financial position.
What constitute of remaining stable given our resources can only be answered by the board or AW and no one here knows.

That said, do i hate AW, given what he has done NO, but i still think maybe its time to go and a younger man come in.

This is true and even I have to admit that we've stayed a tad in front of the pack despite our failings over the years. However, my main grumble is that over the last few years it would only have taken moderate investment to move us level or very close to level with the likes of Moan U and Chavski. I still feel a very large part of the failure is due to Wenger's stubborness and belief in very very average players, who he has given enormous (too large) contracts too which in turn have cost us with the very best players because we can't compete with wages (because of how much we pay our younger/lesser players). Not to mention the complete failure to address issues within the squad and total lack of tactics.
Hate is a strong word but I would hate anyone that continually lied, blatantly to me. Wenger out!

Madrich,

Prior to citeeh's arabs bankrolling them we had the 3rd highest wage bill in the league......FACT so dont go citing statistics about 60% of our competitors cos it is misleading to say the least. Answer me how a club that now has not got even 1 player that has won a league or major cup anywhere can have a wage bill so high :? Fact is that we are paying losers a winners salary without them having to earn it thus eroding that drive that players have to win trophies and collect their big paydays so citing financial costs as a reason for our demise when you are overpaying donkeys is no defence imo.

Bg, call me old fashioned but I believe that a manager is brought to a club to manage his players, pick teams and tactics etc and not concern himself with the economics of running a club. Wenger's legacy according to you is that he will leave the club in a better financial situation than when he found it and sorry cos I mean no offence, but that is apologetic bullshit. As baba has pointed out so well we are now left with a squad of 2nd and 3rd rate shit that are at best championship level and that are so fcuking lazy and carefree that they wont either work hard for the club nor give a shit about the club or team  That my friend is wenger's legacy and only those that still defend him would even contemplate using the financial condition of the club in his eulogy as Arsenal manager.

Finally madrich can I remind you that we the fans were told that moving to a new stadium was going to allow us to compete with europe's elite but you are now suggesting that we should try to remain stable for as long as possible ? :? I can accept not being able to compete financially with the arab money at citeeh or the chavs or madrid but we are being outspend by some mickey mouse clubs in our own bloody league   We are continually making a profit in transfer windows and I am sorry but this was not the plan pitched to us when we closed down highbury

Babatunde and augie - All great relevent points well made and I'm in total agreement but I'm afraid you're wasting your time and keyboard skills on these jcl and akb blinkered apologists.

Excuse after excuse - The board, the media, the scouts, Man Shitty, Chelski, The medical team, injuries, fluke goals, the tea lady, etc, etc......... give it a rest its fuckin Wengers fault end of.

If they cant or wont see by now that the shit were in now is totally, utterly down to Wenger and his lies, incompetence and eccentricities then I'm afraid they never will.

I've mentioned it before but the saddest thing for me is that Wenger is poisoning the club and dividing the fans. Forget about the football side for a minute. Wenger dividing the fans is enough. He should go for that reason alone.
His continued presence is by itself divisive and in any other high profile walk of life he'd have resigned. Wengers stubbornness, greed and lack of class wont allow him to do the decent thing and thus we are going backwards like I've never seen before.

Wage bills are only part of the player cost, you have to take depreciation into consideration. In other words net spend over a considerable time you can see we are similar to Everton, wigan, etc.
Given the resources we have, AW has done well with AFC in that we still remain competitive. Hence most clubs are trying to emulate the AFC way.

Moving stadium was suppose to make us competitive but then Chelsea and City came along. Instead of moving forward, we are keeping our heads above the water.

Everything at the moment (majority might agree) is overpriced. The only way you can function in such a market is put your head down and focus on your principals.

In that context AW hasn't done too badly and in time history will judge him otherwise.
I don't think with the current squad anyone expect AFC to finish less than 6th.
FACT We will not be competing in the championship next year, and we wont be fighting relegations.

Modern football managers have to be financially responsible with the exceptions of clubs like Man city, madrid, etc.

I do not hate AW, but maybe i think its time he goes, but with respect from the fans. Also he is not going anywhere this season so just enjoy and support the team.

WAS on the fence with this AW, given what he has done for the club (financially), and the possible consequences of changing him. There is me thinking it cannot possibly get worse

Man U, it happens.
Swansea it happens.
