But then surely, over a long term horizon, paying a few extra ££ for a defender like Cahill, or some other players that we had in our radar, in order to have them early on during the transfer window so they can gel with the rest of the team, would have had no long term impact...when compared to the impact the short term decision to save a few quids here and there can have with the risk to 1) not get the players we need, and 2) have them so late that it will take them weeks/months to gel with the team and 3) to fvck the season up in the mean time in losing key games as the team isn't ready yet, and the psychological impact it has on a serial loosing and humiliated team, and losing so many points in the process we may not qualify for the CL next season...while the alternative was to plan properly, spend an extra £10/15m on our targets, and maybe for an additional extra £10/£20m get a few other available players with experience, or one marquee signing, but then with all these players having a proper pre-season, we would have been firing from all cylinders at the word go instead of being humiliated only 1 month into the season.
And particularly whilst at the same time there is plenty of money at the bank!!!
I think we've cleared some of our under performers, but I still think that Djourou and Squillaci should go, along with Almunia, Rosicky and Diaby, and we need 1 international CB (Cahill) + 1 international CB that can properly cover FB (Vertonghen), + 1 international DM (M'Vila) + 1 international CM (Hazard) + 1 international striker (Benzema).
And ok, these are ideal names, but surely if we'd also bought Parker or Barton, Samba or Dann or even Yakubu, we'd be in a better situation than we are now!
