TOP 10 EXCUSES FOR NO TV LICENSE

Post by goonersid »

The top 10 excuses as defined by TV Licensing were:

"Since I had a bit of a fling with the postman I haven't been receiving my mail so I didn't get my TV licence reminder."
"No-one watches TV apart from the parakeet. It calms him down and stops him ripping out his feathers."
"I went to the PayPoint to pay for my licence, but I had to leave before I could pay as my kids were stealing sweets and I had to get them out fast."
"My Payment Card fell in the toaster so I had to iron it and now the PayPoint machine won't accept it."
"I can't afford a TV licence now as the repayments on my brand new car are cleaning me out!"
"I never got the reminders because my two-year-old hides all my post in her toy box".
"I would have to sell my TV to pay for a licence so I can't do that."
"I don't need a TV licence, I already pay for my electricity bill."
"I'm getting married and am too busy picking flowers, colours and things to buy a TV licence."
"I cannot go out to buy a licence because I am allergic to the sun."

The excuses were given to TV Licensing's inquiry officers and call centres by people who should have a TV licence.

Sadly the main reason at the moment

Aresnals latest humiliation is normally the first game on MOTD so Ive decided too avoid all the smug grins of Linekar and co. as the GIC rambles about "Mental Strength".

i dont particularly mind paying for a TV licence but since its only the BBC who get money from it, with ITV etc having to rely on advertising, I always think you should have the option of not paying for the TV licence and having the BBC channels blocked. Theres some canny stuff on BBC (MOTD and the likes) but if you have Sky, a lot of the time you wont watch much BBC stuff (depending on your interests like). Having to pay for BBC channels when you might never watch them is a pain in the arse.

Plus, they use the funding to pay for radio as well, so why is it that people with a radio but no TV get the benefit of the radio part without having to contribute? There should be a radio licence anarl.

Anyway, it doesnt much matter, they like to sound threatening and all that but if you dont have a licence and they turn up at your door, you can just refuse them access to your property. They'd need to go off and get a warrant and come back and it would cost them too much to be worth it. If you think they will come back then just refuse them access to your house and take the television round to someone elses house for a while- or buy something to put over your telly to make it look like a fridge or something

Or just pay the thing which is what i do simply because i cant be arsed with the hassle and i do enjoy MotD and their coverage of the World Cup and European Championships

In Oireland we have to pay for a TV licence by law and the money goes to the RTE channel only. The same fucking shit RTE that also have advertising revenue!

It pisses me off too that I pay for every channel I get through Sky+ as I don't have an aeriel (just the sky+ dish) and yet by law (because I have a TV) I have to also pay for RTE. Bastards. :banghead:
