I never said I wanted him. I said "someone like him". Moyes would tick that box.

NO WAY!!!! The only reason id want Moyes is so that he can be a fall guy. After Wenger goes the job will be a poison chalice for a while, if Moyes is manager he's last 2 years at most be sacked and then we can get a proper top quality manager in
Agree with that. Sadly I do think we need a stop gap manager to rebuild the foundations of this club back. A bit like when we got Rioch, he was never going to be a long term manager.

I think were the club is now its too big a task for the big names to rebuild.

I think when answering this question, one needs to consider that the likely year in which it will happen at the earliest is 2014, and even if it does it is likely that Wenger's thoughts as to his successor will be taken into account, particularly under the current ownership and executive structure.

I'm not saying I agree with that - far from it - but we have owners from outside the industry who currently have a huge reliance on the performance and knowledge base of one man.

So, question one - will Wenger go in 2014? I would say probably not. I think one final extension to 2017 is more likely.

If he does go, then his influence on the decision will be huge, so it is unlikely to be a grade A candidate from a top European club. I would have thought that a younger version of him, managing outside of England, Spain or Italy would be likely.

How about the guy managing Dortmund currently ?

At this rate we'll need a manager who could get us out the championship so I'd go for Neil Warnock!

2017 !!!!

Let's hope he's sacked soon and has no influence on his sucessor.
Not saying I agree with it; far from it. I just don't see that Gazidis and Kroenke would ever have the balls to get rid of Wenger. In Kroenke's eyes - and they really are the only ones that matter when he has 67% of the voting rights - Wenger is a safe bet to protect his investment. Changing management teams is always a bold move, but one that can be undertaken succesfully if the decision makers understand the market they operate in. Neither Kroenke or Gazidis give me this assurance.

So sadly we'll be stuck with the GIC. If we're still competing in the CL come 2014, I can't see them having the balls to act then, as they will be lining up the investment for a likely sale (typical 3 year plan) and a change of manager would be risky for incoming investors. So they'll opt for the easy extension to 2017.

Also look at Wenger's number here - £6m a year in a job where he is virtually unaccountable. That would not be the case at PSG, Real Madrid or as the head of a national team.

Carry on Wengering until 2017. That's why I try not to post so often these days....what a deeply depressing thought that is. Six more years of "special circumstances"

The next manager of Arsenal should be

1. Mourinho
2. hiddink
3. Van Gaal
4. Ancelotti
Not sure your allowed four managers mate but would come in handy when that twat Pardew kicks off again........4 on 1.......mourinho will blind him first with a sneaky eye gouge and the rest can lay in at their leisure :D

It could even start a new side sport of "managers tag wrestling", fat sam would be in high demand at last :?
