Food Advice (New Season Ticket Holder)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Jerk chicken

Post by lowerwest »

The jerk chicken place opposite the ken friar bridge is pretty good i reckon. And also the oriental stir fry place next to it.

Anyone been to that fish and chip shop up near highburys east stand. Still doing the hottest chips known to man?

Think I know the place.

King Jay and I visited it during the Emirates Cup. It's run by an Indonesian-looking geezer who barely speaks English. I get a cone of chips. They're a bit shit.

Jay asks for a chip roll. To be fair he had a sore throat   but it still took the bloke about five go's to understand 'chip roll, please, mate'.

So he serves him. It's a cone of chips.

Jay: 'Where's the roll, I asked for a chip roll?'

Owner: 'onder yu cheeps'

He's just put a soggy fucking hamburger roll under a cone of chips. :coffeespit: :coffeespit:

That the place?

The biggest piece of advice I can give is not to spend any money whatsoever inside the stadium, unless your want is overpriced diluted warm lager, congealed crap, staff that take an hour to work out what change you need and a 10 minute walk to find a straw if you want a soft drink.

With that in mind, anything outside the stadium is an improvement

Remember where he was at Highbury, maybe it's cause I've changed my routine but I never see him outside the Grove. Calls everyone Colonel.

I thought I saw him on Drayton Park against Swansea but I was, er, a bit worse for weare so may be wrong.

Can anyone confirm? :?

If that's the case then you did see him mate, Usually turn the other way towards Arsenal tube but went the other way vs Swansea as had time to kill and wanted to miss the queue for the station. How do you know he's a Spud?

Only asking cos he (verbally) bludgeoned my mate into buying a stupidly expensive burger and he's really pissed off that the charismatic vendor is a Spurs Twunt and needs some kind of closure

I asked him who he supported a few years ago. Not touched the bastard's food since. 8)

And neither shall I. Although I might still listen to his Patois whilst enjoying a burger from a more savoury supplier

Where's good for kebabs on the HR? Delight at Finsbury Park is lush but if I'm going from Highbury and Islington I dunno where to go. :?:

http://www.yildizocakbasi.co.uk/. A really excellent Turkish at 163 Blackstock Road. Good food and reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.

Cheers, will give that a go next time I'm at the Gunners.

There seem to be a few decent ones on the Highbury and Islington side though. Holloway Best Kebab, Crystal Charcoal Grill, Kebab City? :?:

Avoid the Workers Cafe on holloway Rd. Had a egg and bacon sandwich and the yoke was hard. This should be a crime.

I walked past that place yesterday. Looked grim.
