ARSENE WENGER WILL BANKRUPT OUR CLUB

Frankbutcher's scenario might happen, it might not.

The club can handle a season out of the Champion's League, it has cash reserves.

Remember that the commercial deals were assembled in a bit of a rush as we needed cash to build the stadium and it was a tough ask, we had to go to six different banks to get it. The club was not in a position of strength when it negotiated those deals.

There is still money to come in from property, but I do agree once that is in, we need to sort out the wage bill.
I hope this season has been a lesson for the club and that the days of the Denilson, Diaby type players getting fat deals will not happen again.

I challenge anyone to look at our accounts and tell me that we are set-up long term to dominate World football finances. We moved to the Emirates to capitalise on the strength of our team and the support that had grown out of it. We have wasted that opportunity via a youth project that has back-fired severely. The Emirates will become a mill-stone round our necks.

Our wage bill is so out of proprtion it's not real. But it's not just the players. We have a commercial team that have been in place for 3 years, with nothing to do... Our commercial deals don't run out until 2014. So why have the Commercial Team been on £5m pa for the past 3 years? We could have cut Season ticket prices by 6.5%, not increased them. In fact 6.5% simply paid for our Commercial Team for one year. They asked us to pay for their wages for a year..........

We are dead in the water, unless Usmanov buys out Kroenke and splashes the cash. With Kroenke and Wenger we will be bust before we know it.

You got them all correct Frank. :barscarf:

The one you missed, between Chalky Whyte and Colin Hill, is Danny O'Shea.

Cheers, although I did say Whyte and Colin Hill.... Danny O'Shea... yes, he was really good, although I'd have him ahead of several of our current lot...

I agree that only Usmanov can get us out of this mess, certainly not Kroenke.

I posted on another thread that without his millions Arsenal will never be in a position to compete for the title in the next 10 years.

Kroenke has the finances to get us out of the mess but seems to side with Wenger and his attitude of not spending. Usmanov seems more inclined to spend but i think Wenger would resign before we spent his millions

Now you being an AKB you cant want Usmanov if the above happens

you only think Wenger might resign.
what about if Wenger was reunited with Dein and backed by Usmanov's millions? I think he would spend no problem

If that happened he would be the biggest hypocrite in the world after slagging city and the chavs for years. For all his faults i cant imagine him doing a total turn around

Okay I’ll give this a go……

Firstly I totally agree and I think Wenger’s realised that he’s tried to over pay players to keep them at the club to fend off any other clubs. Plus the idea was to reward there loyalty.
This work with Cesc in that he held a stupidly long contract.
Where it doesn’t work is in players that are no where near the league of Cesc. Like Diaby, Almunia, Denilson & Bendtner etc….
In fact I personally feel it does the reverse of what it meant where we have players that don’t really care whether they play for the shirt. In fact some don’t care if they play!

There’s only 2 major deals. Kit manufacturer & Kit sponsor.
We also have the stadium naming right but that’s was another means of getting more cash at the time.

As we know the Kit manufacturer & Kit sponsor don’t run out for some time.
However, some smaller deals have been done with Idesit, Thomas cook Sport & Carlsberg. Also the commercial team look after the sales of the corporate boxes which I hear is sold out this year.
I’d like to see us to a similar training top deal like Man U with DHL as that seems a new area to exploit.

The way that football is we can still get major sponsorship deals even without European football that would still dwarf our current deals. Look at Liverpool with there sponsor with Standard Charter which equates to £20M a year!

I do agree that that the football side needs reinvestment. Get rid of the crap dross hanging around our club and buy some quality players. Stop buying youth as we already have an abundance with that and concentrate on the 1st team. Doesn’t have to be start but just quality and stop pissing around over minimal differences in fees!

Hopefully then we can have a team that can challenge for honours.
