The Banner

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

the twats holding up this banner are the only WUMs as far as I can see.

the future is very promising for the team if supporters just got behind the team and started supporting it.

it is pathetic, the first short period of failure in nearly 20 years and you want the manager sacked. You clueless minority are turning he club into a laughing stock :banghead:
How?

and we were hardly successful in the past 7 years.

If the supporters can't be united then you can't expect the team to be.

Far too much credit is given to Wenger for achieving consistent Champions League football. He was managing with a stacked deck.

Qualification for the champions league was self-perpetuating due to the vast revenues it created. We were in the right place at exactly the right time. Wenger and the back four he inherited made sure we could capitalise when the European ship came in. The fact that other clubs could not compete with their respective top three/fours was beginning to be a serious problem for the established leagues across Europe.

The fact our place at the top table has been in danger is due to three reasons:

1. Wenger rewarding mediocrity and refusing to address glaring weaknesses in pursuit of his project.
2. A second oligarch club
3. Previous shareholders influenced by greed and their manager's ego directing our substantial European income away from squad investment.

Wenger and his employers are the reason we cannot genuinely challenge for the league unless there is a significant change in philosophy and personnel. They have negated our European advantage and allowed the likes of the Spuds to catch-up. Therefore, not only are we not competing with the oligarchs and manure, we are struggling for crumbs with a club associated with failure and underachievement. Once we fall from the top table it will be incredibly hard to secure our spot there again. It is harder to halt a decline then begin a climb.

The previous shareholders have gone. The banner is important to tell Wenger his project has failed and to tell Kroenke he cannot hide an embarrassing lack of investment behind the self-serving model of self-sustainability like his predecessors did.

Yes, being supported has got us so far over the last few seasons...

This is a commonly quoted paragraph, from Headmember's link

''You are a deliberate fool for saying that people like myself should not voice his or her opinion about the state of the football club, if you are sick of supporting Arsenal do yourself a favour and support Spurs''

How many times do we have to hear that churned out... or the ''who will replace Wenger if he goes.... Booooo fucking Hooooo, he is a busted flush and the sooner he's gone then The Arsenal can move forward. Let him fuck off to his next project at PSG which he has been nest feathering for himself at our expense over the last few seasons.

The International break have deflected the attention away from the club over the past week.

Would it be worth some sort of en mass promotion/blast? something simple like:

1) Those with facebook change your profile picture or post the picture to your wall.
2) and/or those with Twitter simply post something like #afcnotplc and see if we can get it trending?

Set time of 11am on Thursday? Could even see if it gets a mention in Wenger's pre-match conference?

This is why other fans won't take this seriously. OK, so Wenger leaves. What next? the club will change it's tune and give the next guy 100M to improve the team? All the players you think aren't good enough will still be at the club under the same contracts that you hate.

The politics of the club will remain the same regardless of who you get in. If they club doesn't front up money to improve the team then it doesn't matter who's in charge.

If you just want a face for all your anger then it appears Wenger is your choice.

today is a quiet day compared to all the fighting between gooners yesterday.

all i will add is well done to arsenalfcnotplc for having the balls to front up to all the abuse but im still not sure its such a good idea at the moment to show the flag at a game, i also feel the message has got out now that a lot of people arent happy and the club would have got feedback as surely they moniter these things.

just be careful guys.

The club know whats going on, the reports from the mirror and talksport are not correct as NO PROTEST was planned at all.

the worrying thing for me in the article is the suggestion that AFC will simply confiscate the banner if its displayed. People should really be taking a stand against this as, without wanting to sound overly dramatic, it is against your freedom of speech. If people are allowed to bring banners to the game then, as long as the banner doesnt break any stadium rules, it should be allowed. I'm sure the lads who made it will have made sure it meets H+S standards, it isnt racist/ offensive/ promoting hatred or violence so I dont see what grounds they have for confiscating it. I doubt theres anything in the tickets terms and conditions that state "any banner remotely against the "establishment" or making a statement that the club dont agree with will be confiscated". Regardless of whetehr the target or timing is right, the lads should be entitled to display the banner if they want without the club getting involved.

Yep Rebel's right. The fact that this is now being discussed in loads of different areas is probably better than a 30 second outing for the flag which then results in confiscation.

SWL, I think you should go and get a few flags done up. Can I have one that says.........

TOO MUCH STUBBORNESS
TOO MUCH POWER
TOO MUCH BULLSHIT

We are now a selling club and underinvestment in the squad over the last 5 years is now coming back to haunt us.

I have to disagree, even a 30 second outing will have the flag on the backpage of every newspaper in the country, better still a scuffle when it is confiscated would reflect very badly on the club.
The time for action is now, this is the first step and it can only grow from here.
This manager must be removed from his post, the more we delay, then the worse the long term consequences. Our goal should be to have him ousted by January.
